Sound really interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing how they get on.

Re: Animatsu launches in the UK today!

I feel like a wet blanket approaching this with such trepidation, but I'm very anxious about how Animatsu will actually turn out. Jerome was always unenthusiastic about what I would consider premium releases since he was entirely focused on the younger audience, so I'm not seeing any signs that this company is bringing anything new to the market the way Anime Limited did. I don't like any of their initial titles so I guess I'll wait and hear feedback from those who pick them up.

Still, very interesting that they've finally come out and said what they're doing!

It sounds as though Manga Entertainment might just fade into the background publishing content for people like Animatsu (and Kaze) unless they start announcing their own acquisitions again soon. That probably makes sense, though I hope there'll be some quality control. Kaze don't seem to bother with that.

Re: Animatsu launches in the UK today!

I think pricing point will definitely be an interesting one to see - as it stands, I don't think the UK could sustain anything pricier than what Anime Ltd is putting out, so it'll be worth seeing whether Animatsu falls closer to Anime Ltd or Manga in terms of the quality/price of the product they're putting out. That's what I'm interested to see anyway.

I do like the idea of a wider approach to content though - I've always said a company like this would be perfect to put something like RWBY out in the UK.

The first details concerning new anime distributor Animatsu have been announced, in a press statement released today.

Eight anime titles have been confirmed, three of which have been named: fantasy series Blade & Soul and Chaika - The Coffin Princess, plus slice-of-life comedy The Comic Artist and Assistants. Two more titles will be revealed in the forthcoming issues of anime magazines MyM and Neo.

Animatsu will also be releasing live-action movies. The first will be Halo: Nightfall, and will be brought out by both Animatsu and Anchor Bay Entertainment on 16th March on Blu-Ray, DVD and as a digital download.

The company is headed by Jerome Mazandarani, with Andrew Hewson as marketing manager, who had both previously worked at Manga Entertainment for 10 years.

An interesting selection of titles, but I'm more interested in the titles they haven't announced. Really want to know what they are.

Chaika - The Coffin Princess is certainly a nice one for me, so i'll keep an eye on how that title fares what content quality is concerned.

Copies of NEO usually arrive quite early for subscribers - so hopefully we should have a clearer idea on that front by Friday/Saturday in terms of the other titles.

Chaika, Comic Artist and his Assistants are 2 shows I enjoyed on streaming. I don't really need to watch Chaika again, but Comic Artist and his Assistants amused. I'd be tempted to pick both up if they come out on Blu-Ray at a decent price point. Halo: Nightfall I may get to go with the other Halo live action.

It will definitely be interesting to see what else they have lined up; there's potential for some surprises once we have more information. Hopefully the NEO subscribers will spill the beans early!

Good to see some very solid licenses from the get-go. I wish them luck too and I'm definitely interested in hearing more. It seems like a good start to me. Curious as to the rest of the titles as those we know are enough to make me excited as to what else they have in store.

I'm not quite sure what to make of all this to be honest, but it'll be interesting to see how things progress over their first year. Out of the licenses announced so far I'm interested in Comic Artist and His Assistants and Halo.

One thing I'm interested to see over the coming months if they're concentrating mainly on new licenses, or if we'll see any rescues of catalogue shows like Anime Ltd have been doing.

I remember the folk at Manga floating ideas like Blu Ray editions of GITS: SAC and Soul Eater a while back, would be interesting to see if Animatsu served as an outlet for stuff like that like how Anime Ltd are doing with Baccano.

Interested ina ll these licenses, would be great if Animatsu was a more collectors edition oriented version of Manga UK offering NISA/Anime Limited style releases. Would force me to buy everything they offer.
