An interesting scenario~

Well, I do respect the ideal for looking after people who are close to you and looking after your own "blood." If I had to choose in a situation whether the result is killing someone in my family or 2 other people, I'd let my family live as well.

Thing is, I'd rather live with the guilt of killing off someone I know and hope forgiveness can be given by family/friend (due to the circumstances). The idea of being haunted by a thousand vengeful "ghosts" would probably be more devastating and traumatising for me. The number is too vast for me to make my own "exceptions."

All-in-all, it's as you say - there's no "right choice" here. I reward the many with more value than the few, and you value those closer to yourself.
Just dont feel offended if there's a disaster with us 2 in it and expect me to stick with you. I'll be looking elsewhere for someone with a big "S" on their chest (or do it myself). :p

Best reason to not listen to your iPod I have ever heard...

Seriously, Godot, great example, you wouldn't be able to make this up!

However, this situation has an eerie similarity to Kino's Journey.
