By the way, I don't have any issue with there being ads on the forum. I can totally appreciate that a website takes money to run, and they don't affect my enjoyment in any way.

Google ads are usually a bit of a laugh anyway...I always have one on MySpace telling me I can meet Busted, even though they broke up about two and a half years ago.

Most search engines, even the most legitimate and reknown are exploited with META tag entries crawled from a lot of sites, including the ones with ********/illegal content.

Ads don't bother me though, because I never click on them. ;_;

There is a difference between "Little Mermaid Hentai" and Childporn, while the advert wasn't what some were expecting atleast use a little common sense guys.

If you actually think that Google, one of the biggest web advertisers in the world, would let that kind of filth be distributed on thier network then i would say you are grossly mistaken.

Hang on, Google is one of the most innovative web companies in the world. They go through a process of approval for all of their adverts - they even had to approve Anime UK News before allowing us to place their adverts, unfortunately, I suppose many of the organisations they approve quickly turn in to porn sites to earn a quick buck before being kicked off.

Based on what I read, they don't allow porn sites to advertise, and Google also attempts to target specifically related adverts on each website. It probably takes them a few days to get down a proper process (especially for forums, where the topics of discussion are fairly random). Another interesting thing about Google Ads is that they allow companies to bid for advertising on your site, so hopefully, the longer we stick with these adverts, the more anime-specific links will start to appear.

That's the theory, anyway.

I was under the impression people were reffering to the little mermaid guff as child porn, if that wasn't the case then please ignore my first point.

I've noticed that as well. But occasionally it is normal, And occasionally not.

The vast majority of people browsing the internet bode for content, not appearance.

Keep in mind I said 'vast'. Some people just get their jollies over flashing buttons and drop down menus.

It's only used effectively by business websites really though; making money requires spending money, plus if you've got the skills, you should utilize them. o.o
