ADV/Lace announce more cancellations

Well they don't have the rights anymore so can't release them. It's a shame as the UK arm is paying for the failings of the US arm here - they were ready to get them out to us but ADV HQ lost their permission to.

I bet Lace/ADV UK is even more upset than we are, not that that's any comfort :(

Anyone who's previously bought the first vol won't be able to sell ontheir copies either in the knowledge there won't be anything to follow. I just glad I buy in series instead of seperate volumes.

I know there's nothing that can be done about it like. Just rather fustrating for a lot of people.
 
It really has been 1 bombshell after the next for ADV over the last 6 months..............I can see this having a knock on affect to the rest of the distros In regards to people who are buying single volumes. They must now think twice before they start collecting in single volumes incase this type of thing happens.

Actually i was already weary of that type of thing since manga did it to me last year with the Tokko releases (as well with Noien which i was thinking of getting, glad i held off till the boxset was cheap)
 
On another note would any1 say the 6 volume series are now dead? What with funi going mass boxsets and bandai realeasing gurenn laggann over 3 volumes.
 
One of the reasons I wait for bowset releases is for thinpack DVDs. I have ALOT of DVDs and they take up a lot of space. I would much prefer the 3 Vol series just for space puposes however it's another excuse to charge a hella lot more.
 
i think the way manga is doing it now is a lot better then previous, i mean they are spreading out the Buso Renkin series over two DVD releases which are actually cheaper then the single 4 eps vols used to be
 
A little bit more info from the PR I received earlier today:

<p>Lace, ADV's UK anime distributor, released this statement earlier today: "<em>All existing stock of titles in these series will remain on sale for the time being.&nbsp; Also, following the recent shift of licenses from ADV Films to FUNimation over in the US, all stock of said ADV licenses will also remain on sale for the time being.&nbsp; If at any time this situation should change, LDMS will inform retailers and consumers as promptly as possible.</em>"</p>
 
Also, it's kind of interesting to note how they've been allowed to continue with certain series, like Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor TV, but had to quit the above. I thought The Guyver would be the first thing that got canned as its apparently one of ADV's biggest sellers over here. But then again, I guess this...

... has something to do with it. Basically Funimation can pull the rug at any given moment.

Blast it all. There goes the second season of Ah My Goddess. Oh well, lets hope they will pull out a boxset like they are doing with everything else. This is the main reason I rent. Distributors are here today..........
 
Well, all I can say, is I feel sorry for anyone who was actauly buying those series for 1.5 it's US price.

Maybe they should of gone with lace instead.

But yeah, I hold no responciblity. I got my Dai-guard for £12 (ligit) and Azumanga for £26 so in the end I feel no loss for what will be the slow, painful death for ADV.

But yeah, what should I know? I'm a dirty dirty importer who wants to see the full show and wha-ha-ya for what's it's worth.
 
While i do not like the way conan san makes his posts...........he does have some good points. And I suppose he is better than the people who blatently know they are stealing.

I mean a single volume of a 4 episode fullmetal panic and it is 5 years old still £20 in the high street shops???? lol
