ADV Films license Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai

According to a post on on the AnimeOnDVD forums ADV Films has licensed the GAINAX anime Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai (This Ugly and Beautiful World). No further information as to when the title will launch is yet available.

One of the few GAINAX titles that a lot of people have probably never heard of. There's another anime license announcement due from Funimation later today too.

As much as I'd like to put a positive spin on this news, KonoMini is essentially a remake of Mahoromatic without any of the underlying emotion that saved Mahoro from becoming a soon forgotten bargain bin fanservice series.

On a more positive note, ADV have also announced their license for the original Area88 series that (as long as they don't go all "web exclusive" on us) is said to be an 80s classic.

It's still a Gainax series, I think it will sell well for ADV anyway

i hated this show so much!
i watched it all on fansubs some time back, i didnt like it, i found it to be too random, and some parts just did not make sence.
