Kyoto Animation are producing this next year as well. It hasn't pleased the FMP and Haruhi fans but, unlike the relentless torrent of Key stuff, it actually sounds like something I might enjoy.
Oh God. That just sounds dumb. FMP4 now KyoAni!

good god stop moaning about series stopping other series being produced and learn to wait, u any idea how long some of us have been waiting for Kiddy Grade 2? Delays happen, how long was it between the last Rocky movie and the one previous to it?

There is no expectation of a Kiddy Grade sequel (thank god, I liked it a hell of a lot better when it was called Dirty Pair and not about lolis with improbable ages) or a Rocky...what is it...VI now?

And, christ, I will murder a small kitten if we have to wait some 10 years for FMP: Thrid Strike.

Word was that it got canned on the writing board.
Having dug a little deeper it would appear that you're right. Perhaps Kyoto Animation could not withstand the indignant fanrage of Key fans convinced that their beloved studio was somehow betraying them, and thought better of it.

Damnit, my "Smoke 'em out an' waste 'em" plain failed.

FAILED

But yeah, god help anyone in the stright line between me and KyoAni Studios if it turns out the next thing they're doing is some stupid Key nonsence. Christ, I'd pay for more FMP and such. It's one of THOSE shows.

Ironicly, most of the THOSE shows are shows that haven't been licenced, looking at you Seto No Hanayome.

God, a KyoAni Seto No Hanayome, that would just...I would engsmsplode

Yeah, except Kiddy Grade pales in comparison when it comes to fanbase size and demand.

Ignoring the predictably idiotic tirades from conan-san (seriously dude, do you have nothing better to do with your time?) this is actually very good news, if all goes to plan. ADV's problems are well-documented - too much so I suspect, which might be making their recovery much harder - so this is a huge boost to their image. Basically, this show is popular with fans and is as close to a sure-fire hit, that promises a healthy return, as they are likely to find.
As much as I agree with you about his usual angst attacks, he does have a point this time. Also it remains to be seen just how much of a hit this will be because the majority of the ones who this appeals to will have already seen it, and as past performances show what is popular in the fansubs doesn't mean it will be a big sales hit for any distributor. I'm sure ADV will confirm that. Still nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I doubt that ADV would have bothered licensing Clannad had Air and Kanon not done good business for them. It won't shift [insert popular shounen fighting show] numbers but it'll certainly do well enough.
