Addicted to ecchi!

I wish there was some way I could set it so neither of you could see the other's posts. Arglebargle.

Seems people have been leaching off of my creativity, I was the original Phoenix Wright poster.

EDIT: Oh, and when is unellmay going to be banned? I may be the typical hardass mean guy, but let's just be honest, do you think any of you can see yourselves logging on here in six months time and still seeing this guy posting? I don't think so. I'm not a mod or admin, and don't have power, but I have an opinion.

right no more warnings now, any further posts in the thread unrelated to the topic or as an attack at other memebers will be deleted and reported to the administration.

I don't know about anyone else but i'm getting sick of perfectly good topics getting ruined.

The music was a nice touch.

Right, apologies for going off topic - back on topic now.

Well, I enjoyed Shuffle, like, sort of. In a sort of watch-for-free way. It wasn't so much the ecchi traits that kept it from being a 'good' series in my mind though, it was the dull and flat characterisation. I'm not sure if poor characterisation is a trend in animes that revolve mostly around the ecchi themes, as Shuffle is the only one I've seen, but I can honestly say I expect it to be one.

I don't have a problem with some ecchi themes as long as it's not over the top, going to ridiculous angles just to get some upskirt shots in. That said, the lack of clothes that Motoko wore in SAC really grated on me, and I spent the whole series of Cowboy Bebop waiting for Faye to pull that damn jacket over her shoulders. I mean seriously, who walks around like that?

Same here. I wouldn't have had a problem with if she weren't a security officer, and wasn't the only person in her world walking around with a racy swimming costume on. Way to blend in, Major... Her 2nd Gig outfits were better, and even increased the fanservice factor for me. Tight fitting bodysuits > constantly showing skin in an unrealistic manner.

Definately, I only really sat up and took notice during SAC when she would occasionaly wear that sort of SWAT-style bodysuit on certain missions. If I had had to guess her profession by just looking at her in that stupid leggings and swimsuit combo, 'stripper' and 'escort' would have been way up there. Agreed, I much prefered her entire wardrobe (does that sound gay?) in 2nd Gig, especilly the overcoat. Very cool.

Tsk she's a robot who can turn invisible doesn't matter what she wears when she can do that

Anyway I used to think like that
till I realised I had a penis

No, you're thinking of "closet". ;)

I think giving a character appropriate clothing is pretty important in defining that character, and that's why I do kinda cringe at a lot of ecchi moments. Faye's outfit I didn't think was so bad, because she is kind of a seductress anyway.

...

Did I hear something shortly after reading your post iisan? There's this vaguely irritating white noise which seems to have interspersed our discussion...

That must have been what, give or take 4 months ago?

Yeah, I almost find it acceptable on Faye, I can believe she'd actually wear that, whereas Motoko, even if she WOULD wear that, certainly wouldn't on the government's pay. Another character where this seemed realistic that I can think of off the top of my head is Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist, for similar reasons to Faye. But I still wanted Faye to pull that damn jumper over her shoulders.

Now there an idea that would end several ongoing wars

I have to agree with Ayase and iisan about SAC: one of the best things about the show was how it avoided a lots of anime sci-fi clichés and went for a mature storyline with adult as opposed to teen characters. Everytime I saw that ridiculous outfit in the first GIG it took me right out of the story since it was completely disbelievable. Her dress style never seemed to fit with the cold professional character she's portrayed as.

I'm sure it was meant to be sexy, but there are limits to how far you can take something like that without becoming laughable. The fact her second GIG outfits left more to the imagination managed to strike a pleasing compromise between fanservice and practicality.

(Slow claps) Brilliant, best comment i've read so far. I love women, but i have to aplaud your true self sir. A true otaku.
You know Rui is female, right? I presume that's why she has no interest in real girls rather than it being the result of an extreme 2D complex! ;)

It made me smile :)

Somehow I'm cursed to forever confusing people about my gender. Next time I sign up for a forum I'll call myself Magical Princess Fairycake RuRu I think.

Use an icon of a female character. Works for me.

That's what started the whole problem. I originally had an avatar of Yankumi from Gokusen. Viral is just temporary until I remember that it stopped being Gurren Lagann week ages ago.
