Hey guys!

I dont know much about anime/manga, tbh other than a few Studio Ghibli movies I've only seen Hellsing and now I'm plowing through Naruto! But since Hellsing I've been dying to see more, and to start reading some mangas but I have no idea where to being. That's why I'm here... to get involved in the community, gather some knowledge and meet some kool people.

Well I really enjoyed Hellsing, so I like the whole demon/vampire slaying kinda thing. But I'm also thoroughly enjoying Naruto (not very helpful I know lol). I hear great things about Death Note and Claymore, but I also wouldn't mind something insanely epic, a real 'sit down and absorb' kinda show if there is anything like that?

But seriously, welcome to the forum! If you like SF, try Time of EVE (available on crunchyroll.com). If you like mystery/thriller/weirdness try Paranoia Agent.
 
Thanks for the recommendations! Urotsukidouji rings a bell, I think I watched it with a mate. He's got a Manga horror DVD box set and I'm pretty sure that was in it (though I cant remember too much about it :?)

I know this is a bit of a variable question but what do you guys prefer, reading a nice Manga series or watching a series?

This is a good thing, haha. My first three suggestions weren't entirely serious. Welcome to the NHK is excellent, the other two are horrible, but NHK would also be pretty terrible as first/second/third anime series to watch.

As for your other question, I tend to prefer manga.
 
Watch Death Note, i implore you (i'll rape you if you don't, deal w/ it.) Never watched claymore myself but it's on my 'want to watch'.

If you like naruto you should probably take a look at the other shounen animu such as Bleach, One piece and soul eater.

Hi Vayzaroth and Welcome!

Naruto is a good choice for an anime beginner, I'm not sure what to suggest to you, Claymore is a very good choice as is Death Note, no harm in checking them out. :)
 
Code Geass is actually a great suggestion, I'd agree, although it is sort of long for someone just starting to watch anime.

Couple of other things off the top of my head would be the Read or Die OVAs, and the Patlabor movies.
 
Thanks a lot for all the suggestions guys! I just had a little read about Code Geass, sounds pretty damn kool, definitely goona check that out. Also just started reading Death Note, absolutely love the art style and its totally sucked me in already! :D
