A Good Place To Buy Manga In UK?

I need to find a decent place to buy manga in the UK. The ONLY place that currently stocks the stuff is my local WHSmith. I live in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, but I can easily travel to London or whatever.

Also, are there are good UK websites dedicated to the stuff?

online is one of the best places, have a search around the forum, there are loads of threads listing shops

There is also http://www.bookdepository.co.uk which I like a lot. Delivery is free and they list import titles (makes them very handy if you are in IRL like me). List price tends to be a bit higher, but free delivery makes up for it.

There is also http://www.amazon.co.uk make sure you do stuff to qualify for super saver shipping.

I have historically used United Publications a lot http://www.up1.co.uk until it got blocked by the domain filter at work. There were great. Others have used http://www.otaku.co.uk a lot, but I have never tried them.

http://www.archonia.com were pretty good, but belgium based, so you have to watch the shipping costs a bit.

I have used http://www.play.com a lot in the past, but they don't have a dedicated manga section in the same way that they have an anime section - you often need ISBN numbers to find what you want there.
 
I don't live anywhere near London or Cambridgeshire, but i hear shops like Forbidden Planet sell manga, theres also Waterstones, and a place called Cafe Manga, all of which would be in London.

As for websites, the one i always suggest is United Publications, as Laughing Manji has pointed out.
They have the best selection of any UK site i know, they are fairly priced, and reliable
Others you can try are ones like have already been said said: Amazon, play.com, and also the forbidden planet website.
Also as McIcy said, you can try Ebay. Nowadays i am very often buying manga on ebay, where you can often get a whole set, and a fairly good deal :)

If you want to keep local with WHSmith I'd recommend browing amazon.co.uk get the ISBN numbers for the books you want as they should be able to order stuff for you. (maybe not American stuff as it depends on the distributer, but definitely UK stuff like Tokyopop, Tanoshimi and Gollancz)

If you're able to get to London, it's definitely worth checking out Forbidden Planet, Gosh comics, Blackwells or any Borders (in that order, they're all in the same area kinda between Tottenham Court Road and Leicester Square underground stations).
 
I'm in Cambridge, and the BORDERS in town is very good, about 4-5 bookcases full of manga. Waterstones in Cambridge is beginning to build up more stock, they've only recently turned manga friendly.
 
I dont often buy in shops actually but when i have in the past its been Borders,Waterstones and Forbidden Planet.But usually i use play.com :D

All Forbidden Planets that I have been to in the last 2-3 years have had this deal for most of their manga.

No, you do not get a student discount.
 
Personally i always use Ottkars/Waterstones when i can. They have a pretty decent selection of different genres and also they have this neat 'manga club' thing. (you have a stamp on this card each time you buy a manga book and if you get three stamps you get a free manga)
 
They still do that? The Waterstones nearest me seems to have scrapped that a while ago.

All they sell nowadays is battered Tanoshimi stuff and dodgy "world manga" anyway, so they can shove it.

I used to get a load of stuff on that offer too...now I just get all my stuff from United Publications.

Even though there's still no sign of my Rave Master 6 I ordered in September...
