10th Anniversary Azumanga Redrawn!

State Alchemist
According to (very NSFW site, just in case you don't know it) Sankaku Complex and /azu/ in addition to including new strips the 10th Anniversary editions of Azumanga Daioh have been mosty redrawn by Kiyohiko Azuma.

Normally I hate this kind of fiddling around with things that don't need it, but looking at the comparisons you can really see how much Azuma's art has improved over the last ten years. Probably makes it worth a rebuy for me, especially seeing as how I already have the old volumes for translation.

for what i see here is he's printing it more from what JC staff animated. but still looks more appealing

I really dislike the style of writing on Sankaku Complex. They use the same phrases over and over, and have the same type of idiots commenting on everything.
I don't think many people go there for the writing...

@Otaku - I'm not so sure Azuma is trying to copy the animation style. If you look at the newer volumes of Yotsuba you can see that his style has evolved quite a lot - He spends a lot of time on backgrounds now as well. It's also worth mentioning the new strips are pretty good, the writing seems better than the original volumes too, it's certainly making me laugh more.

C'mon Azuma, if you don't want Yotsuba animated you can think of enough new Azumanga material for another anime series... ;)

The first new Japanese release is available to buy from YesAsia.

Sankaku Complex has words? Can't say I've ever noticed.

Anyway, it's mighty decent of Azuma to redraw that many panels for the anniversary edtion (ten years wtf) when he could have left it alone and cashed in.

Pretty decent but for me the original art is good enough so I won't be rebuying. I'm just glad new Yotsuba is finally being released.
