It's been *looks at profile* many years since I was a semi-regular poster here but I thought it was worth sending out a shout about something I'm involved with anyway.
I'm now the Vice President of Hibanacon, a new 3 day residential anime convention in Milton Keynes with room for 350 people...
I like twitter, largely because it#s a nice short method of communication, and most of my groups of friends only see the messages I post regarding themselves and such (unless they want to dig deeper.
It's just a bit more approachable for me than a normal blogging service...and less laden with...
It's okay by me...I use lynx...it allows me to browse...but being in a command console (and hence text only) also allows me to look like I'm doing work.
Oddly I have a mate in Stourbridge called Dave...but as far as I know he's not into anime.
Me, I'm from the cultural beating heart of "Yam Yam" land, Bloxwich...near to both Wolverhampton and Birmingham in the grand scheme of things...although sometimes I wish my studenthood in Aberystwyth...
I'll post some pics later because at the moment I'm in a school and they get a little jumpy if you start using Google Images. Number 1 on my list, though, probably Kate Winslet, she doesn't look like she could do with a kebab and chips (several times over) like most famous women (seeing a...
I'll give SGU a chance despite what happened to SG-1 and Atlantis. In both previous series the last two seasons were just unwatchable...and for Atlantis I did actually only see edited highlights from someone who basically scanned the last season for the 6/7 good episodes.
I just hope it...
Surrogates: 7/10 - Decent action flick with a knack of making all the surrogates hit the uncanny valley head on. A little predictable but otherwise a pleasant way to spend 90 minutes.
I was also impressed with it, and it's nice to see the German actress from The Bourne Identity (whose name I can never remember) being given more roles in...well....anything as she's a really good actress.
If no one did maths any more my binary maths skills would becme more endangered...more money for me!
Right now though...lunch with Radio 5 on and then.......a staff meeting...ugh
Wow...this thread reminds me of an awful lot of DVDs that could do with a trip to the landfill.
Totally agree on FMA: Conqueror of Shambala - it remains one of the few movies I've only ever had the patience to watch halfway. It took a cool and simple series with gorgeous bright...
Morning all. The staff are back in here...meaning the kids will be back soon....that sense of dread is returning.
As for the army camp stuff it sounds cool, I used to be in a cadet force myself....did adventurous training (after a week in the wilds of wales you become VERY glad of things...
Ahhh, CitizenGeek....I vaguely remember that guy.....bit of a twerp if I recall correctly.
At least the situation with my school got sorted out....they forgot to put the contract for new workbenches out to tender....so I can legitimately claim data points could not have been installed...
Oh but today is not a good day. I was meant to come to a school, sign off on some networking installation after an inspection, and move on to a Childrens' Centre....
Not only is there no networking.....or IT suite.....or even a floor in some places...but the networking company say they never...
Okay, seriously, possibly a little bit cruel there with Legend of the Overfiend....I'm all for a bit of fun....but suggesting tentacle porn is rarely the way to bring someone into anime.
Hmmm...I'm no expert on Romance stuff so I'll politely sweep that under the carpet for someone else to deal with....
If you're looking for Sci Fi then anime has a wealth of it to trade off. I'll recommend a few favourites.
