    Patlabor (1989) - R1 REMASTER vs. R4

Cuz that's what I own. The R4 is a direct port-over of the old R2UK Manga Patlabor 1&2 set anyway.

    Patlabor (1989) - R1 REMASTER vs. R4

Patlabor (1989) - R1 REMASTER (2006, Bandai Visual/Image Ent) vs. R4 (2003, Madman) No contest really, the R4 is unrestored 1.66:1 letterboxed NTSC-PAL junk, while the R1 is remastered 1.78:1 anamorphic progressive NTSC. The 5.1 track on the R1 is fabulous. They also commissioned a new sub...

Uk all anime /manga tv channel

Perhaps you could do something along the lines of say showing dubbed anime during day and primetime (until like 11pm) and reserve 11pm to like 10pm for subbed stuff? That way you'd satisfy both halves of the audience.

ADV UK announce their big releases for 2007

The Shinkai Collection has peaked my interest, hopefully the soundtrack and booklet from the similar R1 release will be carried over. Looks like you no longer support written English either. ;)

Anyone recommend a good Mystery film

You can't get much better than:- Polanski's Chinatown, Hitchcock's Rear Window Vertigo De Palma's Blow Out Dressed to Kill. That's all the truly outstanding ones that come to mind at the mo which haven't been mentioned. Fincher's The Game is supposed to be decent, but I haven't...

    Rant time....Naruto style

Naruto is rubbish, but it's fun and highly addictive rubbish. Just like how DBZ and Bleach were/are.

    Warrior King - 28th July

How are the extras on the UK DVD? Personally I'm not buying the film until there's more options and only will get this UK release if nothing better has come around. The US threatrical release was heavily cut and was rescored by rapper The Rza, but the R1 DVD might be uncut and loaded with...

BEEZ license Patlabor 2 for October UK DVD release

Of course and they recently rescued the US rights to the film from Manga. There's a very good chance that we will see it get the red carpet treatment. But you never know, as I said stranger things have happened and it they might just sit on the film rights and not release it. Pessimism is my...

Is all manga published back to front?

The practice of flipping manga has mostly been phased out by a lot of publishers at this point thankfully. The manga niche market in the West is large enough that they don't need to do such dreadful compromises anymore. I mean FFS I've seen yaoi/BL/shonen ai/whatever they calling gay comic...

BEEZ license Patlabor 2 for October UK DVD release

As do I, Bandai Visual released them under a label called "Honneamise" afterall. Stranger things have happened though. Honestly I'm still undecided on their next release Gunbuster. I watched 3/6 of episodes of the sequel Diebuster and that was okay.

    FLCL

Anyone picking up the R1 Ultimate Edition boxset? I have no choice really, I can't stand the ghosting on the R2UK/R4's (that are a a result of the NTSC-PAL converted **** transfers) and the R1 individual volumes are all OOP. The Pillows tracks hardly ever leave my playlists, such an...

BEEZ license Patlabor 2 for October UK DVD release

I watched my remastered R1 release of Patlabor 1 of this evening and WOW, massive improvement over my ****** letterboxed R4 NTSC-PAL release. The gorgeous remastered anamorphic transfer + the 5.1 track makes the film look and sound brand new. I'm so glad that Bandai Visual took the rights...
