    Manga Entertainment subtitles problem

Death Note doesn't seem to suffer this problem--but I can't vouch for all of their releases, I'm afraid. It really is quite an issue in Ouran, mind. I tried watching the dub with the regular subtitles track, in the end.

    Dubs vs Subs

Some of Pokemon's early episodes were genuinely hilarious--there are things that I would laugh at now that I simply didn't get, back then. Having seen a number of the early Japanese episodes, I'd actually say that I think the English dub was the superior version for the first 25 episodes, or so.

    Dubs vs Subs

I'd say that it's likely the same argument 4Kids has historically used: make the show more Western. They would probably point to most American shows as not possessing much silence; my theory is that they had a fear of kids losing interest. I think they still do. Incidentally, the Pokemon dub...

    Dubs vs Subs

Interestingly, to quite an extent, it did. An interview with Veronica Taylor highlighted that in the early stages of dubbing Pokemon--that is to say, the first 10-20 episodes, or so--extreme care was taken to keep the show true to the original Japanese version--though this isn't the sort of care...

    Dubs vs Subs

I remember one time long ago--maybe 2000--Chris Psaros (of Dragonball Z Uncensored fame) noted Pokemon to have a great dub for its efforts to retain the original Japanese music and possess a sound script. He also lauded 4Kids by saying something along the lines of "these guys take some serious...

Y'know, at times, it sucks to be an anime fan in the UK.

It is still setting time aside to hear back from the market, though--it is the time they set aside to hear appeals. Responding to e-mails and the like is taking further time to assess a broad number of questions--many identical--that could be more reasonably perceived--at least economically; the...

    Funimation Dragonboxes

There seems to be the axiom that these sets are aimed squarely at the most hardcore of Dragonball fans; Adam Sheehan seemed to underline that they weren't for casual fans--the price probably reflect this. It certainly is a steep investment, especially when contrasted with the recently released sets.

    King Of The Hill

Happening upon said crater--and knowledgeable of the fact that my ventures into the realms of biological warfare require some form of testing ground--I develop some travesty of a weapon imbued with only the most devastating of viruses, amalgamating it with explosives of the highest order. I drop...

    TV Schedule

Do those not pertain to NHK in Japan, rather than NHK World--over here-- specifically? NHK World's stance has historically been that they won't air anime, based on the responses that past inquiries have produced, that is; they've been quick to point to imagine-nation as a supplement.

GTO has a great--see what I did there?--anime adaptation. (Personally speaking.) Dang.

If you look at the listings for Monday--Thursday next week, it should be back in the 4:30 PM slot.

    Dubs vs Subs

Some would argue--I recall reading an interview with a guy from Square Enix pertaining to Final Fantasy--that to more faithfully enjoy the show in a manner akin to that of a Japanese person watching it, the joke should be localised to elicit an analogous sense of enjoyment for the English...

    TV Schedule

This is all off the top of my head--so I can't vouch for its accuracy--but I'll try and add times as I find them. Jetix Naruto - Jetix Dinosaur King - Jetix Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl - Jetix Cartoon Network Bakugan Battle Brawlers - Cartoon Network Kix Medabots (and its sequel...

    This doesn't necessarily reflect my views, but--man--have I been waiting for the day I'd be able to post this. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k_Wb6TWAv20&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param...

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: The greatest story ever told. Re-told.

I think--as of episode 12--that I'm going to stop watching New Metal Alchemist. It may well be a long wait, but I'll happily wait for DVDs or Blu-Ray releases in the (possibly distant) future. That said, I'll still be alert for any new theme songs, or whatever. (I'm a sucker for these things.)...

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: The greatest story ever told. Re-told.

I've just watched the new opening and ending themes. This new series, at the very least, has openings and closings that are more visually impressive than the previous series. Edit: Here's the new ending. It doesn't really support my point--but I love the song. <object width="425"...

    Funimation Video Service Becomes Localised

On the plus side, it'll make watching Brotherhood more enjoyable now that I won't have seen it when the DVDs come out. (If there is an alternative legal method, I'd rather not hear it; this is a nice way to quell any desire to watch the show until the DVDs.) This gives me something to look...

    Where hath Roy won?

With exams over, I plan to change the regularity of my posting in no way. Because I'm very, very tired. :D This has been my excuse for the past three years, or so. It's a very protracted tiredness, you understand.
