No. All of my orders from Zavvi arrived damaged, all of them. Their bubble letter shipping (All of my orders was Bubble letter) is completly and utterly sh*t. In comparaison, none of my orders (not a single one!) from Amazon got damaged. So, no, peoples are not exaggerating.

You can adjust the customs invoice with KimchiDVD, 20£/€/$ on the invoice and you should be okay. It worked pretty well for me, and my country (Belgium) is reputed for having one of the worst customs in the world.

You can't compare those 2 markets. Anime market is a very niche one. American TV series market not, they sell many many many more, so they can lower the price of their DVD/BD.
