Sadly, the BD included is the same as the second pressing, so the video glitch is still not fixed. Good thing I have the JPBD.

Terminator is getting an anime produced by Production I.G. Be cool if they could get Takeshi Koike on board.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0 will be released in Japan on March 8th, just a day after Tokyo's state of emergency is lifted. Also, the film has been confirmed to be 155 mins long, slightly longer than what the Eirin listing stated. Avoiding spoilers is going to be a challenge. Hopefully conditions in the...

Thanks for making me aware. :) Be cool to see a proper doc on the production of the Rebuilds at some point. Be also nice if they could debunk certain myths.

Ten Years Ago…What Were You Watching in 2011?

Prior to 2011, my main experiences with anime were through odd episode of Pokemon, One Piece, Sonic X and Hoshi no Kirby, either on TV or YT, as a few Ghibli films, and iconic films such as The Animatrix, Akira, Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, Fist of the North Star: The Movie, Ghost in...

Gundam 0079 did the whole traumatised mecha protagonist thing decades before Eva made it mainstream to a Western audience

@Neil.T From what I've read, the budget stuff is a fabrication that has been reinforced by ANN. The source of the rumour comes from a 90s fanzine, which didn't indicate the source. From what I've gathered, it's more likely scheduling issues than anything. The commentary for EOE has one person...

Rate the last anime you watched out of 10

Gundam is a big franchise that has some shows that work more for some people than others. If you feel like giving the series another try, then I can vouch for War in the Pocket, which is a short 6 episode OVA and is probably my favourite Gundam entry. It's more low key and smaller in scale...

    Miscellaneous mecha discussion thread

Some aspects of Eva's story can take some filling in the blanks, but that is primarily related to the lore. Stuff like the psychology themes and character related stuff I feel are made pretty obvious through the show itself. I do find that people can read too much into the religious symbolism...

It would be cool to see Igloo get a UK release, even if the CG is a bit rough in some places.

Mugen Train is being released by Manga UK / Funimation over here, so maybe rights issues are delaying part 2?

Interesting. When I watched the USBD, I found that I had to turn up the volume pretty high to properly hear it. Meanwhile, on a remux with the 4.1 audio, it sounded more crisper and dynamic. Ah, fair. Maybe it is a clone of the USBD?

I'm that weird guy who prefers F91 to CCA. Yes, it is messy, but it has some of the best action I've seen in a mecha anime movie. Iron Mask is also a pretty cool take on a Char clone. That said, there's a lot of goofy stuff too, though, it is expected with Tomino. In fact, Tomino even makes a...

It's good to see F91 back in print over here, since the last time it was released on home video was under Beez way back in 2005. I hope that this Blu-ray release will include the original 4.1 theatrical surround sound audio mix which is on the 4K BD.

@Neil.T Glad you appreciate the research. Took me quite a few hours searching through databases like MAL. It's interesting that the US only has two animated features that last over 2 hours, while Japan has over 60. I'm personally hoping that they can show 3.0+1.0 at Scotland Loves Anime this...

I'm hoping I enjoy it more than Boy and the Beast and Mirai, both of which I found underwhelming due to having issues with their structure and writing.
