Retro Anime Podcast - Next Episodes

Ditto on Prof Irony. It'll be a new one on me so I'll be all the keener on what you have to say. Gonna be a bit bold and ask opinions on Cyber Formula, Dead Leaves and Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust.

Retro Mecha Podcast - Episode 14 'Tekkaman - The Space Knight'

Been a while. I've tripped over FSS a few times, but never picked it up. It'll be interesting to get a trusted opinion on it. When do you think it'll be out?

Just gave episode 1 of Ushio and Tora a spin. Seems to be familiar ground but watchable.

Getting into streaming now (always like to be fashionably late). Haven't even finished Blood Blockade Battlefront episode 1 and I'm in love. already with the humor alone. Anyone else have an opinion?

    Spreading the Word

Grave isn't offensive in the traditional sense and the violence is proportional to context. It is mature for a 12 rated film due to it's historical relevance and narrative, but it isn't sexuallised or grotesque in it's depiction. I would agree with you with-holding it though. Wait until she asks...

Favourite anime set in WW2 Japan?

Not going to elect a fave as there's only one I've watched (which is technically WWII but only just as it was at the very end) and refuse to watch it again for it's honesty. That was Grave of the Fireflies. A brutal kick in the teeth of an anime and worth watching once, but never again.

    What Anime to Watch

Gonna throw my 2 cents in Today: Redline or Riding Bean This Week: Gangsta or Bubblegum Crisis OVA This Month: I'm currenty pot shotting Cyber Formula, but You really need to hunt for it. For something a bit more available Outlaw Star For a quick stream try and find Dead Leaves.

Anime UK News is looking for new writers!

Thank you for your help. I'm intrigued and you've made the commitments much clearer but I've too many commitments of my own to make a fair go of it. I would be interested in contributing to the site in a more dedicated capacity, but the variability of timescales and depth of input needed are...

Anime UK News is looking for new writers!

@Teapot A few things I'd like to know. How do you want reviews submitted and will the material you need reviewed be provided. My biggest problems are locations and the fact I'm holding down a full time job. That makes me a little unavailable, especially for tripping and on the hoof journalism...

Watched Future GP Cyber Formula Episode 1. Pretty happy with the opener. It doesn't expose much and generally keeps things lite, but there's enough to make you want to see what comes. It isn't complicated, but interesting enough to stay on par with the standard action fare of the time.

Is 28 years of age to late to start your anime collection...

Fair point. Also I was never one for Deluxe, Special Edition, Super Exclusive, Gimme all your money sets, something that is becoming a trend (not to mention the poison that is Sony Marketing). Just give me the series/film and keep the filler. That aside there are still plenty of options at the...

Is 28 years of age to late to start your anime collection...

I will give you this hope. There is license turn over at the minute where a good few early 2000's anime and later are being picked up. patience in this case is a great virtue. Add to that if importing is an option then Australian and US markets are worth a look. OOP is pricey so set your...

The stripper cat girls are the puma sisters from Dominion Tank Police iirc. I'm going tp bend the rules here (moderator permitted) as there is hentai in the collection, hence the very strict age rating, but if you want a ready source of some classic (and not so classic anime) here is a set that...

Is DVD a Dying Format for UK Anime?

Maybe not, but when your collection has a significant bulk of OOP (namely ADV) titles price is something you have to grin and bear. I've had to pay some awkward prices, but have found a few reasonable ones (Cyber Formula complete for less than 50 quid). Moral of the story is if you really want...

Is DVD a Dying Format for UK Anime?

Brexit is only a short term bump as capitalist, psuedo currency markets base so much value on politics and panic that in 10 years the price rises will be undone in so many ways.
