Here's one I prepared earlier. Robotech is well worth watching, but for the real deal import Macross from the States or try to find Do Yo Remember Love. I remain hopeful that ADV will bring the original series over, but it's not looking too likely at the moment.

It's a good game, but for best results take it online. Playing through the campaigns with a party of friends is great fun, and there's a ton of great third-party modules to be found as well. Try http://nwvault.ign.com/ for some of the best addons.

Sadly, I think anything older than a PS2 is now considered as retro. This includes your PS1s, N64s and Dreamcasts.

Escaflowne would be my first recommendation, but you could also try Full Metal Panic, Cowboy Bebop, R.O.D or Tenchi Muyo. More Ghibli stuff is also recommended, particuarly Porco Rosso, Nausicaa and Laputa Castle in the Sky. And Castle of Cagliostro.

Akira or Blade of the Immortal. Both are pretty lengthy, and not at all friendly on the wallet, but they're great reads and seem to be what you're after.

Picked it up on Saturday, spent the whole weekend playing it, and now I'm at work with the songs stuck in my head, wishing I was playing it. It's been entirely too long since a game's had this kind of hold on me - totally worth it. :D Anyone else rocking out?
