That's interesting. Could be why it has that film quality 'feel' to it which I rarely find in anime.
It's a classic! Even Hollywood has borrowed elements from Perfect Blue. For example in Black Swan there are more than a few similarities in my opinion - but that could be wishful thinking on...
Agreed! I always wanted to know what happened to the cast of Blue Sonnet as they just seemed to cut it off (or probably ran out of money to produce more episodes). I was just disappointed by the fact that Sonnet and Red Fang never face each other in battle like the opening suggested.
I'm not talking about anime that are unlicensed in general - but those that were shown on U.K. TV and just didn't make it to DVD transition (let alone Blu-Ray!)
Sometimes I wish I had kept my VHS tapes!
I remember some classics back in the day when Sci-Fi channel and others had anime on...
Personally, for something to stick out in the anime genre as a whole for me would have to be ironically, 'unanime-like'.
A good example is Perfect Blue as previously mentioned. It feels like as if it could have been translated easily into a live-action film by the way the story is paced and...
An interesting topic which I feel I have to add to give a different viewpoint.
Perfection is ultimately in the eye of the beholder. It is something, which I believe, to be unattainable. Certainly, there are people who are closer to it than others.
From an evolutionary point of view...
It was a close call between Crash and Crisis, I would have put both up for top 3 but I thought I'd just pick one. Have to agree, the Bubblegum series is top notch for it's music and animation back in the day. I have to go back and force myself to watch 2040 though, I was so appalled with the new...
Aha! Just the topic I was looking for.
I have many favourite openings and endings for various reasons such as animation, music or even both! I'll stick with my top 3 for now ;)

Sorry, I don't know - I only read it from the website. It may not have an image attributed to their story in the print version, but somehow I feel that the Daily Mail would have used an image to potray their own point of view.
Great to hear! I know Daily Mail has an antagonistic relationship with anime and manga in general. Once I saw the article, I had to share it. I forgot to mention the Kiddy Grade picture they added, but I guess it was chosen for the combination of picture and title.
Sorry for those that...
Came across this article on Daily Mail today:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2145359/Comic-translator-convicted-possessing-child-pornography.html
In Sweden, a comic translator is in court due to the police seizing his 'child pornography' collection which consisted of 'indecent'...
Sorry, but any fanservice (in a sexual way) is going to be worse than something that is more subtle and plot-driven - unless you like your anime that way!
Trying hard not to derail the thread into why lolicon is wrong - but it is comments like ' some people dig lolicon' which help retain the...
It is very subjective but just because the anime genres are, changing does not mean that it's actually better - or worse. Why would I waste some of my life viewing anime that I know I won't like? It's like selecting what film at the cinema to watch! Somethings you will try but other you just...
I remember the days ofthe 'Brick'! I still have one in the form of Princess Nine. I think it is the worst out of them all - as they take so much space and end up not closing properly :/.
I agree. When my El Cazador de la Bruja came through the letterbox, I thought 'was that it?' - I like...
Apologies if a similar topic has been posted before!
This thought of separate vs thin paks occurred to me while I was looking through my anime collection. Most of the DVDs I own are separate volumes - as was the norm when I bought most of my anime. Now it is more often the case that thin paks...
Thanks Arbalest! I see you've made your way up to staff level here, very nice. :P
Yeah, I'm going to try some of the newer anime and see how it goes. Going to be a slow 2 weeks until I get my last exam for this semester out of the way then I can finally go back to enjoying my anime backlog...
Hi Arbalest! Yeah, thought I'd make a grand return to the anime scene but with less flames this time around! ;)
Roujin Z is definitely a bit different and worth a watch just for all the craziness of the machine chair!
