Advice for a budding artist, please!

Thanks. :D The backgrounds were the things I was having the most trouble with (silly really), but I think I've found a way of doing them that suits me. Plus I've finally got the hang of using the airbrush tool. :-) Decided the other day to do something different. Since there are so many...

    Can anyone make plush toys...?

Aaah. If only I had the time right now. :(

Advice for a budding artist, please!

Know what you mean about the proportion. It still bothers me, but perhaps that's because the perspective is a bit weird... :? Foreshortening is so difficult to get right. And my avatar... Would that be the one on deviantart? If so, that's actually kind of a self portrait, though my eyes don't...

Advice for a budding artist, please!

And yet another one! I think this is symptomatic of the fact that I have something to be getting on with, and I really don't want to... Sketched this and then CG-inked on the computer. Fairly happy with it. I think I'm developing a fondness for evening / night settings...

Advice for a budding artist, please!

Thanks again guys. I'm really beginning to feel quite good about my drawing now. And, Neko, thanks for the comment about the hair. Was just messing around, I've tried so many different techniques and none gave me what I wanted, and then it just happened... :D Well, I've finished another...

    Nekos pit :O

Well done on the colouring, I love the shading. It's so difficult to get it looking good with pencils (one of the reasons I use Photoshop, I suppose). And the candy colours are just sooo sweet. :-D

    Nekos pit :O

Wow, those are so cute! :D I just love the eyes, you've certainly got a distinctive style there...

Not a bad start, I hope you'll agree...?

Do you mean re-draw it, or colour it? Either way, it seems like a good side-project for half-term...

Advice for a budding artist, please!

Okay! I've finally drawn something I'm really proud of! :D http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/28769273/ This is an actual character who's been running round in my head for a about a week, though I haven't settled on a name for him yet. He's a samurai, sort of inspired by a weird...

Not a bad start, I hope you'll agree...?

You know, I'm starting to get a little jealous. I really wish I was improving as fast as you, I've kinda hit a brick wall right now... I'd agree with the comments about the hands and feet (I find in the best manga-style drawings, they're always a little larger than in real life), but they...

    Piccys by Mini-Mariah!!

Ooh. Really cute. I do love the way you've managed to capture the lace! :D

Not a bad start, I hope you'll agree...?

You're not wandering round with a camera, are you...? That's coming along very well, you're improving very quickly. I suppose as far as criticism goes, I would say that perhaps you've overdone it a little with the folds on the sleeves, a little tends to go a long way unless clothing...

    Graphics tablet

I'm currently using a Wacom. Don't know which model though, since it's my Mum's and she can't remember... I do know it only cost a couple of hundred though. Pretty good when you consider what the top end would cost. Also pretty good since I'm going to have to get my own when I head off to uni...

    New work

Wow, that's good. :D You've got the musculature of the upper body down very well, especially his neck. I also like the sword very much, you've done a good job of making it look 3d and real, even without the shading. I do think that he looks a bit unsteady though, his feet are more or less...

Advice for a budding artist, please!

Phew. Finished, finally. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/28258179/ Been ill recently, so I haven't been drawing. But I think it's okay. I still haven't come up with a way of doing backgrounds that I like yet, so I'm not entirely happy with it. I think I pulled the cell-shading off okay...

    New work

Hmm. I do like the larger guy, especially his really low-brow... My thoughts on the second one would be that, overall, it's well balanced, and the clothes look quite good. However, he does look twisted, his top and bottom halves are facing in slightly different directions, and that's a very...

Not a bad start, I hope you'll agree...?

They're really quite good. :D Apart from the usual mantra of practice, practice etc... (something I really should take more notice of myself, but hey), I'd say to try and pay a little more notice to the body and the way the clothes hang from it. The way I'm doing this at present is to...

    new work from 3nvy

Those are really cute, 3nvy. I particularly like the second one. :D The only criticism I can think of is, remember to indicate the fingernails on hands! Otherwise it looks like they have pointy fingers...

Wow. Some of those are absolutely amazing. Below are some of my favourite artists on there, all anime in this case... maxwindy This guy's artwork is soo cute! Kaze-Hime has some beautiful pastel colour schemes (and I'm not usually one for pastel colours). shilin This is my favourite of the...
