Generally RE has had good ambient/ atmospheric pieces, but this is the one 'theme' that really stood out for me

Well that's basically the precise purpose of DLC games like XBLA. People mostly don't want shorter games for full price titles, and rightly so. £40 is a lot of money (though my ideal game length is somewhere in the region of 8-10 hours, long enough for a fun ride, but not so long as to induce...
I'd agree in part. GITS episodes are the perfect length, they're forced to condense the plot and give a resolution at the end, I think the extra time afforded merely dragged the movie out, so that's a fair point.
Really? Interesting, because I feel like that's one of the few games that is deliberately trying to use violence in a meaningful way and make it about uncomfortable decisions necessary for survival.
I don't have a problem with violence. There are some which take it too far, but it's all about context. Gears of War has some ludicrous stuff, but it's all in the context of a ludicrous game which doesn't take itself too seriously (some may debate that but still), whereas something like SNiper...
Ghost in the SHell: Solid State Society 8/10
For me GITS followed the same pattern as Gundam 00: An excellent first season, a somewhat disappointing second season and a film which improved upon the latter but not the former. It's a decent enough film but the ending was very abrupt, even more...
Yeah, I imagine that would normally be S.O.P. every single other box set that has ever existed has simply been the old discs in a new box (sometimes just all the old discs AND boxes in a slightly bigger box. It seems like an awful lot of fuss for a re-release to mess with it =/
edit: Seems...
Planetes 7/10
Not the best of shows but I don't regret my time with it. It raised a lot of interesting questions and discussion points. I'm pretty peeved that the Hakim storyline was left completely open at the end though, it just seemed like sequel bait...
Planetes 22-24
ARGH. Tanabe's idealism is annoying the **** out of me again and Claire seems to have undergone a face-heel turn so fast she's given herself whiplash...
Holy **** though, she went a bit mental at the end there
Men in Black 3 7.5/10
I hate to repeat the general consensus but MiB3 is surprisingly good. I’ll admit that the beginning had me very concerned that we were heading into the uber-silliness that plagued the second film, but once the time travel stuff starts happening it got really good. The...
I'm just going to go with Vincent Valentine, because vampire, red coat, and ... dunno why Wolfwood's there, maybe something super soldiery/anti-hero-y.
I don't have a problem with it because it's a pretty well-establish trope that people (in this case aliens) are stupid and like to play God. I mean living weapons is essentially the entire plot of many zombie films and games (Resident Evil revolves entirely around this, as to many out of control...
No apology necessary, opinions are opinions =) And I was fully aware that Prom and Alien were not on the same planet, apologies if I didn't make that clear. I too avoided all but one of the trailers, but even a single trailer can colour your expectations of a film, it's something I've had happen...
Entirely untrue. As I said before, I'm not a big 'Alien' fan, so if anything I wanted it to be something different. I think ultimately it impressed visually, but wasn't interesting enough for me. The trailer had made me think "Wow, I wonder what's going on here" and when the film answered that...
