    Gamecube getting the cut?!

If you act fast you can pick up a gamecube and game for £40, I saw some in HMV, mariokart bundles and resi 4 bundles, not bad for less than the price of a 360 game :P

    Last Order: Final Fantasy VII

If you're one of those huge FF7 fans you'll like it, otherwise it's nothing special. Story's more satisfying than Advent Children, it has to be said, but like Advent Children it seems like a cash-in rather than an attempt to tell a decent story within a franchise.

    Gamecube getting the cut?!

It'll be dead by Christmas too.

    Gamecube getting the cut?!

I imagine that they will be getting rid of gamecube sections, and maybe racking any new releases they stock somewhere near the DS and GBA areas. There are hardly any games due out this year and it's likely zelda will be out when the Revolution's out, so they'll be racked together.

(Sympathy for) Lady Vengeance out in the UK soon

Have you seen his part of the Three Extremes film? I haven't found it available on a site that doesn't require credit cards yet...

Cheap, yet good games for XBOX

Not necessarily true - although the Gamecube is now dying, games will still be coming out as the Revolution is designed to play Gamecube games. For example, the new Tomb Raider will be coming out on the Gamecube later in the year, a strange move at first seeing as it's out now on other...

    Ergo Proxy

Well, the Appleseed similarities are no different to those in Patlabor or Bubblegum Crisis, man-made robots/androids/cyborgs developing problems, though that doesn't even seem to be the main issue here. As for I-Robot, that deals with the same thing and is arguably where those anime have sprung...

BBFC edit Paranoia Agent Volume 3

It's probably treated so seriously because first, it involves a child, and secondly there is no counterpart to the view of the three potential suicides. In most other shows or films, suicide scenes are usually treated more seriously, or if light-hearted, there is a counterpoint to it to convey...

Del Ray bringing their manga to the UK under new label

Genshiken is something I'm sure it would suit repeat viewing, hope it gets a release here.

    Ragnarok

I think it's just taking a long time to come out. I've not read any mention of the author stopping it. It would be a shame, I'm gagging to find out what happens.

    Ergo Proxy

Episode 4 and it's making a bit more sense now, though it's a shame they've regurgitated yet another sci-fi staple in the Metropolis system (cf: Battle Angel Alita, the anime Metropolis, Sky Blue etc.) of inner and outer. And the concessions to kawaii in Pino don't sit well with me, but maybe...

BBC Four look at the career of Hayao Miyazaki

Thanks Oni, very handy as I missed the show and have just watched the 'Manga' documentary from '94 with a pre-beard Miyazaki.

    Silent Hill

Aah, thanks subedii. I've heard Uwe Boll bandied about in Penny Arcade but never bothered connecting him, Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead (let alone Bloodrayne, I did know it was made into a film but somehow managed to almost completely remove that fact from my memory). I suppose I was...

Where do you buy your manga?

Just today I used the 3for2 offer in Blackwells, and I've used Play and UP1 in the past. Basically whatever works out cheapest, I like the bargain hunting. Same niggles as everyone else, Play having unforgivable listings and Blackwells seemingly not re-stocking, I've been in every now and...

    Probing your brains...

Thanks for all these suggestions, I had a quick look around some shops today but could only find later volumes. If I don't see any next time round I'll flip through and then hit the net. Cheers!

    Probing your brains...

What is the best manga that you have read that doesn't involve much comic relief, you know the traditional devices, bug-eyed reactions and super-deformed moments... Basically I'm looking for something a little more serious and uncompromising.

    Solid State Society unveiled

I'm glad there's going to be more GITS so soon, even if I'd rather have a new series. And I can't imagine how they'd give it a more cinematic quality either, apart from more CG interludes a la Innocence...it'll be interesting to see how they fit the plot into a feature length where they've...

    Silent Hill

I do like the trailer. Is it finally good film-of-the-game time? Halo also sounds promising... Did anyone see Alone in the Dark?

    Ergo Proxy

The third is out now and I'm lost. What the hell is going on? The statues are moving and talking. The city seems to be sealed and floating in the sky? The weird occurence of a 'pet-type' autorave jars a little against the style of the rest of the show, especially in that fox ear outfit...

    Patlabor movies

It seems that that set is just for the first movie, which makes it even more expensive. I can have a look to see if there are any of the Manga sets left that I can pick you up, if you like.
