Its because Blu-Ray is Sony's format and Sony own the Metropolis license. Im guessing this means Blu-Ray DVD releases somewhere in the world for the Bebop movie and eventually Blood+ aswell *dosent know much about Sonys back catalogue*

I wouldn't be surprised if it was released alongside the PS3 actually, would be a smart move by Nintendo to release a £150 console alongside a £500 or so one. While I won't be getting either personally if people are in the store that day the cheaper option may well be opted for.
