Hello from South Africa

Hi everyone, Hlulani here from Limpopo in South Africa.
I grew up on Dragon Ball Z and Naruto on local TV in the afternoons, then lost touch with anime for years. A friend got me back in with Haikyuu!! last year, and since then I've been working through the sports shows: Blue Lock, Ao Ashi and now Ping Pong the Animation.
Streaming here is mostly Crunchyroll and Netflix, so I read the UK release news to see what is coming. Happy to hear recommendations, especially anything about football that isn't Captain Tsubasa.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of Giant Killing. I looked it up and the idea of the story being about the manager instead of a young striker sounds like exactly what I want after Blue Lock, which is fun but very loud about it. Is the manga easier to find than the anime? Our local comic shop in Polokwane only really stocks the big names, but I can order in.
Since posting I finished Ping Pong the Animation. The art put me off for the first two episodes and then I couldn't stop. Peco and Smile are the best pair of rivals I've seen in a sports show, and it never once does the training montage thing I was getting tired of.

Thanks! Only Run With the Wind out of those. I watched it in the December heat, which felt about right for a show where half the cast is dying on hills. The way it slowly turns Kakeru from a guy who just runs away from things into somebody running for the team got me more than I expected, and the Hakone race episodes at the end are so tense for what is basically people jogging on a road.
Tsurune is on Crunchyroll here so that's next. Touch I've seen mentioned a lot but it looks long, is the old TV series still worth starting or is there a shorter way in?

One that I remember liking and has a high score on MAL is Megalo Box, especially season 2. Another that I enjoyed, seemingly more than others on MAL, is Farewell, My Dear Cramer about girls playing football in high school.

If you don't mind a bit of romance in your sports shows both Blue Box and Chihayafuru (whilst a card game, the Japanese consider Karuta a sport!) are great.
