There's nothing interesting here for me right now. Probably because I've been buying titles regularly in previous sales. I have a few things I could buy from "Early Bird Redux," but they're not discounts that "force" me to buy. I'd really like to have Devilman CE, but that price...Anyway, I'm waiting for flash sales and something I'm looking for. There are a few things that didn't end up on sale but could have, so maybe they'll be there. I'd especially like the Macross Plus Vinyl Box. xD
Yeah, I was able to enjoy it the way you can enjoy a cheesy Z grade horror, although it's certainly not actually good. Ex-Arm, from what I saw of it, at least, was bad in a completely unenjoyable way.

Did mention Blood+/OOP in America in that post, Glory. Although in all fairness I was rather... despair-generalising by saying "All they are good for anymore is Naruto and Gundam... so MNEH!" More accurate would be this: all AL are good for is Naruto/Bleach in a timely manner, in recent years. And occasionally tossing the odd Gundamu boner to HellCat (ps: did not know NT got a JP release on AL. Yay for Hathaway hope. And hopefully that modern audience Requiem CG thing stays on Netflix~). I swear some licenses been asking about for 5-10yrs...
When I said logistics, was thinking of AL trying to arrange/source everything themselves for anime not previously released physically outside Nippon/Asia. Asked few times about Macross Frontier, to that end, tho iirc Macross Zero got an identical release insync in America. Maybe that'll be same Frontier.
Given my clearly stated retirement from anime, I am not as up on the few UK-only licenses, I must confess. I do however own King's Game... which likely heavily skewers my viewpoint on the quality of those other AL exclusives (not helped by one being an isekai sequel, and Diebuster being Diebuster).
I much like Herano (?) found myself crying laughing at times at King's Game (deffo funnier than actual comedies), having randomly watched it airing--expecting srsbiz survival game antics X Light Yagami's JP voice. The absurdity, such as two guys crying during enforced, oddly tender hair cutting and NTR for survival (with anguished faces as the bf waits outside room for the deed to be done)... it turns into 'so bad it's funi' comedy gold. As if it's a parody. Just generally how seriously it takes self when the writing and execution is comically bad, to the point laugh at horrific deaths (recall some chainsaw shenanigans near the end). It's... something. Or at least it is/was with JP Light Yagami hamming it up. Probably a one-time thing as I do not laugh.
On the plus side, the OP channeling Linkin Park stylin' cheerful lyrics always got me pumped, shortly before low budget wtfamiwatching laughter won out. 'Tis not quite 'In the End', but heyho. And there is a King's Game spin-off manga that's actually pretty good, with a Higurashi setting.

PS: About Kaiji Rad, dub preferred to do housework or no (was scared to type directly to you, given the recent sexism allegations. Esp if risk by chance you been doom scrolling on TikTok recently
), 'tis likely one of those few anime that would be odd in English. Like, 'Zawa Zawa' is a vocalised sound effect that plays during tense moments, and apparantly they left that as is in dub; just having someone English-speaking voice it. It'd be a bit like playing a Yakuza game in Eng--some things tend be bizarre given their... Japanese authenticity. Or in the case of Naruto, hearing static thoughts be spoken in Eng tends to make it far more cringe. For Watashi, anyway. Desu. Not that I've actually tried Kaiji dubbed, like. Much like never braved YoungYea as Kiryuu in Yakuza. PS2: These flashers sux so far. Someone hit me up when/if anything decent. Or when something worth bitching over. One of the two.
Has to be dire to have me rambling about sodding King's Game... needs some xmas drama to spice it up.

Don't forget crochet, collaging and drawing/painting! (more those things than housework by far tbh lol) I'm actually not on Tik Tok I limit my doomscrolling to YouTube, Facebook feed when I repost a petition and get sucked in (usually just have a tab set to specifically messenger as that's really the main reason I even have an account - to stay in touch w frens), and various shopping apps and websites. I see your point regarding the possible dub weirdness but I'm fairly unflapped by such things generally so it prob wouldn't bother me as much as you

We are likely are opposites, given I used to prefer dubs before switching back to JP. Laura Bailey did... things to my ears. Dubs are easier to watch with other people, too, which is a +1 for those not eager to read 'n watch. Forgot you have that thread in the creative section for your various artistic endeavors. It all makes perfect sense now: my obsessive tunnel vision would limit my multi-tasking potential, as my spirit animal is likely a train. You meanwhile like to be free as a bird, flapping this way and that. Or something?....
That aside, whilst crochet/knitting is a wee bit outside my wheelhouse tbh, I did actually paint something today, I'll have you know! 'Twas my damaged Kill la Kill AL box set--to keep this thread on topic. Due to them releasing so many low cost box sets, I had it half on/half off the edge. Eventually gravity punished meeee, leaving a long white gash/scratch. Everyone reading, eager for more sales, will doubtless be thrilled to learn that this scratch is now covered... tho still visible.
Shutting up now until a flasher worth complaining about.

@Hanners when you see this (no rush), is there any update on the home video release of The Concierge, I've been eargly anticipating this release and as I'm asking, any news on any upcoming Lupin releases as well? I import all the movies / specials but I'll gladly double-dip on any nice CE releases, I know you likely have The Immortal Bloodline and The Castle of Cagliostro if I'm correct? at least on the theatrical side.

Regardless, instead of rehashing last year's new arrivals with minimal discounting - if any - they should've offered Chaika + Kaiji as S1+2 bundles. £19.99 or £29.99. Dress it up as a bargain one time offer, with option buy individually for £14.99-19.99. Sell it to meee, beby/etc. At this point stuff they want rid of £9.99 better value than timed offers. That's rather backwards.
Both ze sale itself - what does back to school for kids/'schooluniform' code have to do with anything? Not every anime fan is smartschoolboy9! - and these flashers come across like manufactured by some clueless marketing prat. The users on here could've come up with better ideas.
Better to do a day 1 'here's what we have, take or leave till stock gone' then half-arse it over two weeks.

Coming back to some earlier comments, I personally was horrified to see what is ultimate top tier stuff, in my books anyway, like Liz & the Bluebird and Shirobako reduced to such lows! However, if it means that anime as good as those may garner more fans, who may never have picked them up otherwise, then I don't mind as their value is beyond monetary when it comes to spreading the love.
Regarding more recent chats, I now feel obligated to watch King's Game, maybe I'll get it for a few bobs in the Christmas sales. And @Aion (Retired), is that sequel manga you mentioned good in the same comedy vein, or otherwise?

Your horror surely pales in comparison to mein own: owned Shirobaka for (too) many years. Despite loathing AL's affinity for white spines/boxes (Bleach + Code Geass' movies had me contorted in anguish). Have I ever watched it, despite paying much more than £9.99?... NO/NEIN!1!

...that aside, I did actually watch Bluebirdy, for some reason--had not watched 'Sound! Euphonium' so went in blind. Was drawn to the director-ess (Yamada) and composer (Ushio). And all I expected was
s. Besides the film being twice as long as it needed to be though, found it oddly compelling for a film about Kyotomoe school girls, as a man. The one friend being so... insync-with-music-excite that her friend arrived at start, in a decidedly autistic manner, swayed me immediately. That and how their friendship hit the rocks - with some wonderfully unsettling music such as 'secret,green,steps' playing - initially convincing me it was some sort of obsessive/slightly stalker-ish end of friendship drama. Or 'twas something about both lesbians and birds, butt I fear that's the dreaded male gaze at work, once again, so I'll say no more~ 'Twas a moving/immersive film. Would've been better if 50m. (sry still not got back to you, or Roy), the King's Game manga I linked to is thankfully set far away from a biological virus infecting phones and is unironically good. It surprised me: gave it a go simply 'cause never read/watched anything similar to Higurashi. That and was curious if the whole franchise unintentionally comical (the anime is just a disaster that had a hentai studio adapt two series into one afaik). 'Tis a titular origin story, set at a location which I very vaguely recall the anime briefly visited. Merely the setting being rural nowheresville, and without internet/texting, makes it immediately more engaging. Don't remember the finer points, so here's Olde Aion's 8/10 keen insights (rated the TV series an objective 3: +1 for the laughs, and another for the OP):
