UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

Some more examples of absurd prices-US NIS release of Toradora, Japanese release of Toradora. And that's the cheapest price I found for the US release, it's usually the other way around with the Japanese release being way more expensive than the US release. I don't know if these links work because ebay's web site has been screwed up for the past week.

I have it too, got it for £50 or so on Ebay here in the UK a few years back (as in, the NISAmerica release, not the UK MVM one), I wouldn't sell mine (or my Lull in the Sea set!) but it is interesting seeing what kinda way high prices things go for! :)

Sentai Filmworks are having a summer sale - some decent prices and deals to be had.

I've pretty much long drained the Sentai Catalog dry of any in stock titles I've desired to get from them - I can't really pick a single title from the sale to get. Everything from Sentai I buy now is either pre-order or new/recent releases. The last in-stock titles I purchased from them are the Kino's Journey SDBD, Elfen Lied Blu-ray re-release, and To Love Ru Seasons 1-4 Blu-ray.

I had a few additional titles that I may have picked up but between All the Anime and MVM they seem to be licensing out a decent amount of their catalogue so I’m happy to wait it out.

I ordered after not having done so since December 2024; I think their July sale and the Black Friday/December sale are the only times they have the large selection and larger discounts now. Some of their other sales used to be similar but I've noticed last few years that those have tended to be much smaller subsets of their library.

I gave up on waiting for it and finally ordered The Eminence in Shadow S2 so I'm sure that means AL will finally announce theirs next week. 😆

I was hoping a kind soul in the UK would buy Cinderella Nine and then post it to me.
With appropriate mark up, of course.
Can't believe it's $4.99.

If I were ordering I would happily do this for you (at least for any title that is not at risk of getting me sideyed by customs!) but I've never gone for one of these sales, I really ought to set up a Stackry tbh as it would be a way of picking up things for cheap, especially sub-only (or there is a dub included but it's not good enough to be enjoyable for me) titles that I can't really justify buying at full price for that reason. I really hope you find someone who will buy you a copy, I googled and it looked like something I might enjoy too, I really enjoy a well-done sports anime :)

Thanks. At that price not worth ordering on its own.
It is pretty much a by the book underdog story. Doesn't do anything new but hits the right notes. Aww, that was nice.
I think the show might be based on trading cards or is it a game?

I'm not really into any sports related anime or most giant mecha stuff, I'd say I'll watch almost any genre with a few more exceptions including shonen ai and yaoi.

Finally succumbed to the Sentai sale and bought my first discs for the year:
Loner Life in Another World Complete Collection, Hidamari Sketch: Graduation OVA Collection and Onipan!

I'm hoping the Hidamari Sketch OVAs aren't included in the Perfect Collection. They were released 3 years after, according to the blurb, so it's a good chance.

Now to see how much it costs to get them to me in France.

PS Does Cinderella Nine bear any similarity to the classic Princess Nine?

It has been a long time since I watched either, but as far as I remember, other than both being about baseball, no.

I watched Cinderella Nine first and then a friend suggested Princess Nine which I watched after. Princess is probably the better show, but I did not really like it and liked Cinderella better.

As far as I remember, Princess Nine is much more of a sports anime, in that the baseball games play a real significant part of the show, Cinderella Nine is more of a CGDCT show that just happens to use baseball as its theme.

As Otomo says, most of the girls in Cinderella Nine aren't at all good at the game, especially in the beginning.
