Chainsaw Man - The Movie: ReZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ (dub)
After all the "OMG BeSt MoViE EvEr!" takes I thought I'd give it a go even though I really didn't enjoy the series and after hearing the director was different. Although checking afterwards the new one directed 2 of the episodes of the series (4 and 10, both of which I remarked were dull!).
Barely anything happens in the entire first half! Denji goes on a couple of dates and a few other bits and pieces. Then the drop happens, which I saw coming! I don't know if I knew that by osmosis, or there was a hint I actually picked up on, or, you know, the arc is named after this new character that's just shown up and is interested in the deadbeat Denji!!
Then we get about 20 mins of action in fits and starts, but she's too OP so each fight is over in a flash and then about 20 mins of OTT action that's too flashy and hard to track! Then a mini resolution where Deus EX Makima shows up and kills her with no trouble whatsoever!
Animation and art were a bit better than I remember, but so many scenes like they wanted to make an art film again, like the series, especially in that first half rather than a shounen battle show!
