UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I’m going to have to give Bastard!! a chance. Hopefully we do get the second season. It’s good the Gundam movie is getting a nice edition.

We do need to figure out the branding for these live action movies. You can’t have Labyrinth labelled an all the anime because we can see Bowie on the cover. And he’s that’s not an anime character unless you count Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Maybe that’s the solution. Spine art of all the different series where Bowie and Bowie-looking characters can form a neat display together

Exciting to see Gundam Seed Freedom get a blu ray included in collector's edition packaging. The US only got a 4K release in a standard case.
"HC thinks our Gundam releases are crappy, does he? We'll show him!"

I'd like to believe my constant criticism benefited us all like that... largely because the alternative is pronounced existential dread...

Now I wonder if this release is subject to the same licensor restriction that subs are locked to the Japanese track.
Or if it will use the same menus where you can't see which option your highlighting.

To be honest, as much respect as I have for Henson, Bowie and both movies, I'm confused why an anime company is releasing them. Yes, I know anime in Japan isn't as insular as 21st century westeners have made it but it feels like a real reach to be applicable.

Yeah, this is bizarre. There's plenty of unavailable anime-adjacent live action films that would be great to see Anime Limited release - Shunji Iwai's Hana and Alice, the live action films of Hideaki Anno and Mamoru Oshii, Jacques Demy's Lady Oscar, Obayashi's Drifting Classroom, Summer Vacation 1999 etc. - that I don't quite get why they're releasing two films that already have really good 4K UHD releases
