Verbatim BD drive bought through an Amazon marketplace seller, and fortunately it has a Pioneer BDR-UD04 inside, which means that I can now rip my UHD collection with MakeMKV without having to mess around with firmware on this drive.

Never mind the dusty big box next to it, that the old LG BD drive which still does it work although sometimes it chokes on some discs, which I hope the new one will gladly take. That Pioneer drive is also twice as fast as my ancient LG drive.

And yes I do have Japanese styled mouse mats :)

I don't know if a lot of people are aware that pc dvd and bluray drives are no longer being made resulting in crazy high prices as everybody scrambles for what's still available. I had to replace the 12 year old bd drive in my computer a few months ago and was able to replace it with a normally priced one and I decided to get another one as a spare backup a few days ago. All I could find was an external drive (a 5 1/4" internal drive in a case) for $150 and I consider myself extremely lucky as every other place I looked was asking at least $100 more for the same make and model. FOMO at it's finest!

I pre ordered the killer on 4k from hmv.now the only John woo titles to be released by arrow is the better tomorrow trilogy and bullet in the head shout factory has aready released those titles in the us.

I went to Anime Con in Manchester yesterday. The lay out was very poor so I don’t think I’d go again (MCM and others were much better) but I got Choujin X 5 and 11 along with some mini prints of Nier and Nier Automata characters by the criminally under utilised Korean artist D.K. I also got some Gundam charms (the artist will be at Day of The Gundam later this year) and some flower pins from Faerie Chic.

I tried to buy a copy of the oop My Otome Zwei + My Otome 0: S.Ifr Bluray on ebay for $30 and almost got screwed. Moral of the story-when something is at a price lower than other places-beware! I did manage to find a bd copy of Irina-The Vampire Cosmonaut for $22 though so all was not lost.
