UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

My guess as to why InuYasha was held back is because they were using VDMS to re-author the series but also for Naruto, which probably took priority since that one was a much bigger IP. So with the original Naruto series out of the way (and I suspect they'll use Viz's discs for Shippuden) InuYasha Season 3+ is probably back on the priority list now.

AL released the first season, that is what makes it extra frustrating:/.

That seems sort of SOP for AL. I'm waiting for The Eminence in Shadow S2 and still have no idea if they're going to release it, and hence no idea if I should just go ahead and buy the Sentai version instead which has been out for a full year now and will probably be in their Black Friday/Christmas sale.

They won't be able at the EB price together unfortunately as PB will end when Diebuster starts.

EBs normally go up at 5pm GMT/BST which would normally be 12pm ET/EST, 11 CT/CST.
Well if that is the case then I guess I won't bother ordering anything. I do remember buying two EBs once before a few years ago that overlapped their end and start dates on the same day, or maybe it was a one day overlap. I guess I just got lucky.

Sigh. AL have sure been trying their very hardest to prevent me from ever buying another CE from them - first we lost Free International Shipping on every sale but the Christmas sale, and that sale was increased to a £150 minimum purchase, so you need to order at least 6-7 titles. Then if their Early Bird specials don't overlap so I can't possibly order two of them together, that screws me again. And now they are keeping all of their CE sets (which are the only sets I buy from them) exclusive to their site, so I can't buy just one or two sets randomly for a cheaper international shipping rate from another site like AOL.

I used to make at least 4 orders a year from AL with 4-5 CE titles in each order, so I've imported somewhere around 150 CE sets from them over the past 10 years - but as of now my last purchase was over 18 months ago. I suppose I will have to wait for the upcoming Christmas sale and hope the five or maybe six CEs I want are all still available so I can submit one final order from them. It was fun while it lasted. 🫤

Actually, most of AL recent Early Birds have gone live before 5pm. So there may be a chance to order both together, if you are able to check a couple of hours earlier.

I contacted AL about the odd situation with the Call of the Night pricing. They confirmed that the standard edition price was an error and they have corrected it, so it's now at the intended pre-order price of £30.

If they use VIZ's discs for Shippuden, then I may skip it (he says now, before seeing the shiny packaging!). I have some of the US sets and the upscale is less than ideal, in my opinion (albeit I'm no expert).

The upscale makes the lines of the animation look jaggy in a lot of places, compared to its original presentation. This is where an SD-Blu-ray would benefit greatly, for shows like this. At least before it turns 1080p around episode 150 or so.

That’s a sensible guess! Without tempting fate ATA may unveil details about their plans for Shippuden at MCM towards the end of the month, but we shall see.

OK, well I'll be at work and this would happen just before my lunchtime at noon EDT, so I'll have to take my lunch early and have my order all loaded up on my phone so I can just click the order button if the EB windows do overlap... I hope it will be at least an hour or two window and not just a few minutes; I get pretty busy at work sometimes and I might miss any brief overlap. Please make my day a productive one then, AL - receiving my monies (or lack thereof) for an order from me is up to you! 🫡

I was hoping for an EB discount on the Edgerunners Steelbook. The storyboard book is a price-inflating waste of space for me. Maybe just the SE then..
Yeah, it's the storyboard book that kills it for me too. It's a shame because it's otherwise a nice-looking CE, but my amount of remaining storage space is so limited that I have to really mull over how I allocate every last centimetre.

Lol, my Early Bird Saga continues... So It looks like the Perfect Blue 4K Collector's Edition is now up for pre-order at Shout! Factory In the US, albeit for $99. Is that going to be one of these AL releases ported over to the US, or a different release? Shout! doesn't have any image posted up yet. If it is the AL release ported over, is the UK release perhaps Region AB (for the Blu-ray)? Doesn't really matter too much to me, as I am multi-region capable on all my players anyway, but it's still a bonus if it does have Region A compatibility. I can save quite a bit of money ordering the Deluxe Edition Early Bird from AL though, as it is only £41.66 for me without VAT, or about $63. I'm still going to try to snag the UK release if the Perfect Blue DE EB does overlap with the Diebuster CE EB for a short time on 16 October. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Does anyone have any idea what is happening with the Komada: A Whisky Family orders? The release date was yesterday and Amazon have it up for sale but my order is still showing unfulfilled.

I can confirm it's shipping from AL, as I received my copy of the CE on the 22nd of September.

Did you order anything else with it? As AL only ship orders when all items are available.

How did you receive yours so early 😯 This was the only thing I ordered so nothing should be holding it up. It is starting to become a trend with AL, the last couple of CE Blu-rays I have ordered have missed the scheduled release date with no communication from them :(
