I'm also diabetic and I don't drink sugary beverages at all, I really can't handle that much sugar anyway. I also cannot stand the taste of artificial sweeteners, and avoid them completely. I basically just drink seltzers, unsweetend ice tea, water, and straight liquor (lol!)
 
I ordered one of those treadmills to get some walking exercise to use instead of just standing at my work desk; only to find that it requires an app to use it at all even though it comes with a separate dedicated remote control.

When you turn it on, it refuses to do anything at all. Pressing buttons on the remote just results in a beep sound and nothing else. It will only start working once you have downloaded their AI phone app and registered, I do mean that literally it even says it uses AI within the app. This app also requires you to input all of your details to register before it will unlock the treadmill to start working.

None of these requirements are mentioned on the Amazon page, heck it says the app is optional.

Yikes, they will be selling that data. Personally I would return it on those grounds.

It's not as described, so you should definitely be entitled to a refund, even if the item has been opened.

Hardware that requires an app to function is a brick waiting to happen. Sooner or later it either falls out of compatibility with OS updates, gets discontinued, or the developer artificially kills the link to old hardware to make you buy a new model.

Unfortunately it is all too common now a day's. Just look into buying a new hi-fi, almost every one of them relies on a mobile app for numerous functions that aren't available as buttons.

I hate everything about this, and I hate the modern world. Sorry to hear that you were tricked like this. I honestly consider stuff like this to be a scam when it isn't explicitly advertised.

I've seen a few videos recently telling a more accurate history of luddites. Turns out they weren't anti-technology or anti-progress for the sake of it, but rather they were against the technologies that effectively robbed people of skilled artful trades, and replaced it with cramming dozens/hundreds of people into squalid, hellish, dangerous factories and workhouses full of injuries and death. I had no idea about it. With that new context, I'm quite happy to say that I'm a 21st century luddite.
 
I willingly adopt most modern technology but I pick and choose what I want. AI, anything that wants to collect and harvest my personnel data, social media, smart phones-no thanks. I have a nice exercycle that I got a few years ago that has a digital console, all I do is climb on it and set my level of intensity and away I go. It has no apps or any other crap like that. Guess I'm a luddite myself.

I'm really sorry to hear this - I've not had a pet in decades but a friend and my boyfriend recently suffered pet bereavements and I have seen how it affected them, RIP Roxy and please do be sure to take care of yourself emotionally/mentally cuz grieving can be rough <3

Did you know in advance she was ill? Don't usually post such things but am always sorry to read about losing pets, for reasons obvious. At least she lived to a good age. Princess/Tob barely made it to 9/10. Try to focus on that--that she had a good innings, and that time just caught up to her, as it does us all eventually.

It helped me to post pictures/videos, to both remember and share with others. When you feel in a better place, maybe share a photo, if you have one. That way, she will live on through others. All we can do is try to remember, and then - with time - the pain passes, like everything does.
 
She looks a bit miffed to be photographed/have a phone pointed at--in her bed, of all places! Toby was the same, though in his case he'd refuse to look at the camera.

His bed was similar to Roxy's. Might be the same actually/got on Amazon--can be sure at the very least she was comfortable in it, if so. She looks quite old there/perhaps a tad weary, in her eyes, so it might just have been her time to go. Nice that you have something to remember her by semi-recent.

I was lucky to get her looking in my direction as she usually looked away when we tried to take pictures.

And yes the bed was from Amazon. It just this her age seemed to have caught up with her. We had her for 12 years and she was a rescue dog.

Think it's something to do with the camera lens on phones that sets them off to head side-to-side/up-down mode, as you are left calling their name in a loop, in the misguided hope they'll look at the camera and stay still~
Didn't help on my end Westies are notoriously stubbourn. Never/rarely works, so a good job getting direct face shot that is not an unfocused blur. 👍Worst thing is when you don't think to take many photos, assuming they'll last forever.

Anyway, I'll shut up: it's a cliche but time tends to make feelings less raw, if not heal. And 14 is over the average as dogs go, which I wish I had realised sooner x2. Shame you missed those first 2 years but she would've had a decent life after being rescued, if you are mourning her. Did she pass in her sleep by any chance?
