North American anime distributor Sentai Filmworks has today lifted the lid on its June release slate, and as is so often the case this announcement also sees the company reveal a new license for the territory.
On this occasion that new acquisition is Maid Sama, aka Kaichou wa Maid-sama! in Japan, a twenty-six episode adaptation produced by J.C. Staff of the popular on-going romantic comedy manga, which is itself available in English via Tokyopop.
The series focuses on a former all-boys high school which has recently become a mixed gender establishment, a change which leaves school council president Misaki Ayuzawa fighting to make the school more accomodating for its female students, and a challenge that looks set to be severely comprimised when the seemingly tough Ayuzawa finds herself subject to the attentions of one Takumi Usui.
Sentai Filmworks will be releasing the first thirteen episodes of the series on DVD, and in subtitle-only form, on June 7th.
Other releases for the month in North America includes Demon King Daimao, released as a complete collection on both DVD and Blu-Ray on June 14th; the complete collection of Highschool of the Dead which similarly receives a Blu-Ray and DVD release (complete with English dub as well as subtitles) on the 28th of the month prior to a UK release in August; and You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle's third season as a complete DVD collection on June 21st.
