"Zip it, Block it, Flag it"

The "Zip it, Block it, Flag it" campaign is backed by £2m of government investment

I wonder who's pockets thats coming out of.

And my honest opinion on this.....its not going to change a damn thing. a couple of years ago they tried to tackle kids seeing porn. Everyone went straight to the companies what owned the websearches and basically said "what are you doing to sort this?" to which google said that they have put in place a moderate web restriction on searches. however this webfilter is optional and can be changed by clicking on the Search settings people complained that it wasn't good enough and they should try harder....to which the companies replied that it should be down to the parents/guardians to moniter what their kids are looking at.

And in truth i back the companies, this "new" approach to kids and perverted old men from talking to each other and exploitation aswell as possible severe problems...leading to missing children and rape/death. It's the parents that should be monitering this...having this 2million pound incentive won't do anything different to what's already been tried.

just another epic waste of money....for nothing. benefitial at all. i wonder what it'll really be spent on.

i laugh at such feeble attempts

the whole road safety thing didn't really work, the kids down where i live still walk in roads :p

That's less road stupidity, and more natural selection.

Get with the times, Il! We do have roads, but the government finds it fun for us to go over pot-holes. ;)

And this new scheme... it's just another example of that.

Interesting... people are more bothered about the money than the fact the government is basically training primary school kids to be police informants?

Most of us still 'Stop, Look and Listen' don't we? (even if it only takes adults a fraction of a second) So when these kids grow up isn't it likely they'll continue to 'Flag' suspicious behaviour to the authorities? That's what bothers me - we'll create a generation of grasses. Two million quid's a drop in the ocean as far as Government spending goes.

Well, Labour will need an army of informants to police everything they've banned or want to ban. Just as well their time is very nearly up \o/

...

Then we'll have the Tories ;_;

And let's not forget, the Tories will... raise your taxes!

A rise in VAT to 20% in an immediate post-election budget would raise as much as £13bn. Shadow ministers have not ruled out the move, saying such a rise would not necessarily choke off the recovery. In his conference speech Osborne was strongly critical of the VAT cut from 17.5% to 15%, saying it had had little or no effect on stimulating the recovery.

Less freedom! Less money! Whoever you vote for! Hooray!

The libbies are good, but they'll never get into power sadly. ;_; My local area is strongly lib dem, so it feels like we have no say in national politics because of that.

Zip it, Block it, Flag it
...Trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it,
Charge it, pawn it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it... (etc.)

As regards politics, my indifference is currently such that I'm hoping for a Hung parliament.

A very important point. Its how its always been done. (Trying to avoid Godwin's Law :p). If you can control/influence a whole generation of children, you can shape the future to be what ever you want it to be. I also see it as de-sensitising kids to censorship.

Funny enough the IT teacher commented on this today when I breached the topic with him. He had mentioned how it had similarities with Nazi Germany, when Hitler had children informing the Police about their Parents and Neighbors breaking the law.

I knew I shouldn't have started posting on AUKN!! It's an act isn't it? Your just trying to close to me aren't you? You want me don't you? Get away from me!

Thanks ayase... this has really opened my eyes. O_O
