Steamboy:
OMG! this rocks! loved it! my mates didnt though :(

Ich the killer:
OMFG why did i waste money on this, and can i get the 40mins of my life back please? load of ****.

Paprika:
enjoyed this, but enjoyed the soundtrack to the anime more.....werid, i know!

Jin-roh:
Brill, really enjoyed it!

Planetes:
Somebody recommended this to me, on here. A massive thank you to that person, was well worth the money.

Afro Samurai:
hmmm....not bad, not good. run of the mill tbh, but the only other ninja anime i have seen is ninja scroll.

Vexille:
Enjoyed it, but i could'nt do nothing but pick fault with it, its very far fenched, but now i think about it so is appleseed.

Those Who Hunt Elfs:
Weridest ending to season 2 or what?
i enjoyed the first season, but found the second to be a let down.

Please Teacher:
******* loved it! great series, i was put off at first but it is actually really good.

Stuff to watch:
I have now ordered, samurai X - the collection, question on this. do i need to have seen the TV series to enjoy the movies?

also ordered after reading many good reveiws on it the first season of Full Metal Panic.

your veiws on these??

Aside from Paprika and a few episodes of Planetes, I have not seen any of those!

Paprika is amazing though. It is simply a really fun film, it does cover some disturbing stuff, but in true Kon fasion it basically keeps lighthearted all the way through with it (Happy Family Planning in PA anyone?)

And I love the soundtrack! (got several songs on my comp :))

Paprika is brilliant. The music is also brilliant (I have several albums by the composer and love him to bits). Can't argue there!

TWHE. The second season is noticeably less polished than the first but I enjoyed both. Very few people seem to admit to having seen this series. The episode about the rolls of paper made me laugh really hard if I remember correctly...

Oh and regarding Samurai X, you don't need to have seen the series to enjoy the OAVs. The series adds more background but as they're prequels you can get by without prior knowledge.

There is one movie which is based off the TV series more directly but I'm not sure if this is even in the set.

I always put Please (or Onegai) Teacher off for some reason, but when I did get round to watching it, it turned out to be a lot better than I thought it would be.

Planetes is just sheer brilliance. I'd also say it's one of the more original anime out there. The opening and ending themes are also good.

Planetes is brilliant - and while fairly original, watching it directly after Patlabor made me see a lot of similarities (idealistic young woman joins underfunded bunch of misfits, who do an important job but get no respect from others etc.) At first I kinda saw it as Patlabor: The Next Generation

Paprika I LOVE. Its what animation is all about, and yes Im also a huge fan of Hirasawas music.

Also love Planeters, personally its one of my fave animes, just so enjoyable.

Steamboy:
Really enjoyed it, great story and really well directed.

Ich the killer:
Not seen it, the live action never really appealed to me either

Paprika:
never even heard of it i'm afraid

Jin-roh:
same, will look it up.

Planetes:
I missed it when it was shown on Anime Central and regretted it ever since :( Seems a bit like marmite though, some people love it, others hate it.

Afro Samurai:
I enjoyed it, some nice twists although it was more style over substance. Didn't there used to be a guy on here who was here purely to plug and defend the series? I liked it anyway, nothing amazing but i'm looking forward to the new series. Everyone has to love Samuel L.

Not heard of the others i'm afraid, seen Samurai X the movie and enjoyed it but not the series.

I've seem the Samurai X's movies, Ova's, series. I loved the movies. The last movie though, is kind of a flashback of the series, you might feel a bit lost there...

I was watching Planetes at my local anime society in Aberystwyth until I left uni....didn't have access to it for w a while, and managed to leave it at the point where Tanabe is looking at stealing the Oxygen tank from the terrorist. What a bloody cliffhanger to leave it on :/

You only have a couple of episodes left then. :?

You are right though, that's a bugger off a place to have to leave it. :p

I bought the whole thing on DVD and watched it a couple of months back. Pretty cool. Gotta say it's on my "slice of life" recommendation list to anyone now, really.
