Synduality Noir ep1

Yeah, that was alright actually. The characters feel a bit run of the mill, but I like the squat, Sakura Wars-esque mech designs and it’s kind of fun so far. It’s refreshing to see a mecha series that’s a bit jaunty.

Lupin III: Part 2 ep52 (English dub)

Interesting setup with this one; a sneering treasure hunter twists Lupin around her little finger, then plays both him and an Australian (?) mercenary off against each other in a hunt for the fountain of eternal youth. Unfortunately it doesn’t have much of a payoff, and the references to infamous ‘erotic drama’ series Emmanuelle don’t add anything either. Oh well.
 
Yakitori - Episodes 1 - 6 [Final]

I was curious about this when it appeared on Netflix and started watching on the plane when I set off on holiday at the weekend. I quite like rotoscoped animation and while the story and characters were a bit by the numbers (I could easily predict the story episode by episode) it was decent and I quite enjoyed it.
 
The Pet Girl of Sakurasou episodes 1-5: odd. Very strong Honey & Clover vibes in this. Not too impressed with Sorato, the lead character (at least in the dub), as every line is delivered as a shocked shout. Otherwise, it's entertaining and I'll stick with it.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes Gaiden
162 episodes and 3 movies later and it's safe to say LOGH easily ranks as one of my all time favourite pieces of media. A memorable ensemble of characters, engaging tactical battles, a classical soundtrack, deep worldbuilding and a rich universal history. So many elements work in the show's favour building towards one of the best rivalries in the medium. If only the Japanese licensor wasn't so strict with Sentai's Blu-ray.

Zombie Land Saga Revenge
Yet more zombie idol goofiness. Watched the English dub this time which was pretty great with special mention going to Kotaro's VA, Ricco Fajardo. Mamoru Miyano is one of the most iconic Japanese VAs and his role as Kotaro is no exception. Fajardo did an incredible job matching Miyano's energy. Definitely going to rewatch the first season dubbed at some point.

The First Slam Dunk
I'm not usually one to watch real sports anime (mainly went to support anime in the local cinema) but this one may convince me to look into the genre some more. Interesting idea to contain the whole movie within one game of basketball with the action occasionally broken by flashbacks to further develop the team. This was a great watch as a resident CGI fan. Toei's always been pretty strong on that front and it works really well here with great CGI direction and modelling. Great movie.

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou episodes 6-9: Sortato's little sister turned up for an episode and she is even more annoying and shouty than him (and has that creepy "I'm the only girl big brother needs" vibe). Annoying is still losing to Interesting at this point.
 
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout The Animation episode 12 Open together. (Complete. As an anime-only watcher, I thought this was decently enjoyable, though not one necessarily of the stronger anime of the season.) 3/5
