Yotsuba&!

Anyone who enjoyed the comic genius of Azumanga Daioh will love this, the latest work of cute genius from Azuma.

Yotsuba is a young, green-haired girl who manages to be more lively than Tomo and dimmer than Osaka, who stays very true to the cover's claim of "she may as well be new to the planet earth."

The manga follows her as she moves to a new house and makes friends, and the hilarious antics that ensure with her father, the huge Jumbo, and the three sisters next door, including one Yotsuba dubs "the ugly one" from the start.

Yotsuba&! is so hilarious that everyone should buy the first two volumes now. From start to finish of both volumes, I was overcame with vigourous laughter; the manga is simply the most hilarious work of fiction i've ever read.

Only have volume 1 myself but I can concur with everything thats been said.

While I've never read the Azumanga Daioh anime this manga is sheer genius and I haven't laughed so much at any before.

The antics of Yotsuba make Tomo from Azumanga looked sedated, and the frantic pace of her actions mixed with the sheer randomness of her logic have to be seen to believe.

Hoping to pick up the second volume sometime soon myself

I also have volume one (volume 2 will most likely be ordered soon), read it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it a lot. Yotsuba is actually somewhat reminiscent of my brother, and if that scares you, well, yes, it should... ;)

The Azumanga manga, in my opinion, is even better than the anime. It's pure hilarity, and if I didn't enjoy it so much I wouldn't have bothered with Yotsuba. And they're pretty good value, too, especially the extra-thick forth volume. To think that Yotsuba improves on Azumanga shows how humourous it is.

Yes, that most certainly does scare me quite a bit.
