Who is your favourite anime reviewer?

I like Professor Irony's reviews, he always has something interesting to say about the anime he watches. VivisQueen is okay too, I guess, since she kinda has high standards, so she isn't afraid to point out any glaring flaws in anything she's watched.

looking up these now.

iv typed these names and iv got nothing *************** got any links?

Re: who is your favourite anime reviewer*s

I know this cool dude who does ani/manga vlog stuffs ;)

But he hasn't done any reviews lately because he is a lazy ass, and to be honest most of them weren't that great anyway and were subsequently removed, who knows maybe one day a review that is deemed good enough will come?

Why thank you, sir :)

My reviews are all on the areashiftybun youtube channel, but there's also a YAS specific playlist here.

There are a few of Vivis's written reviews on AUKN, but you'd find more of her work over yonder.

I was actually having a look at some of the other youtube anime reviewers again fairly recently, but most of the big ones tend not be reviewing things that interest me. I like Grumpy Jiisan, but he's not posted anything in about a year and there's a lot of speculation on the state of his health. Jaded Otaku Media is okay too, but he doesn't put up videos all that often and he still hasn't finished his Lupin retrospective...

My favourite though? Well, these fine folk helped me through many a dull saturday aftenoon of filing crap at the office, and for that, I love them dearly.

I'm not a big review reading/listening person so I don't have any favourites. I did enjoy gigguk's video on SAO however :)

Re: who is your favourite anime reviewer*s

Honestly i prefer more unboxings eheh

Review is always a personnal thing. If i want to get to know better, i just watch the anime. :)

Re: who is your favourite anime reviewer*s

Got some names youu can put into youtube and watch some good anime reviews!

Glass Reflections
Professor Otaku
JesuOtaku
Anime for Dummies
Sage Anime Abandon
Anime review guy

Re: who is your favourite anime reviewer*s

I suppose for me my main inspiration in terms of anime and manga critcism is Jonathan Clements. His book Schoolgirl Milky Crisis, which includes reviews as well as other longer articles, was what drove me towards reviewing manga myself.

Re: who is your favourite anime reviewer*s

I like Rossman's reviews because he swears a lot and has an impressive range of sex and genitalia euphemisms and I have a juvenile sense of humour. Despite all that, though, his sentiments on the stuff he reviews are genuine.

Can't say i'd really look to youtube for reviews on Anime, figures and the like yes but not anime.

If i'm looking into something i'll tend to do a google search and find a few reviews, Amazon and MAL can be useful too. I try to look for bad reviews as much as good ones as they can reveal something a biased high scorer might have deliberately overlooked.

Skimming though a few of these now - For all his abrasive style, the guy actually has surprisingly good taste. I half expected him to hate everything. A little harsh on Diebuster perhaps, but loving Kurau and YKK to the extent he obviously does has certainly won me over.

I'd have to say that I'm not massively into following reviewers either. I seem to have opinions that are totally opposite to nearly every single reviewer out there, so reading or watching their reviews does nothing but bemuse me. To be perfectly honest, JPT's reviews are probably the best I've seen - tech details, a bit of backstory and honest opinions on the series/movie without succumbing to hyperbole. I could name a few anime related sites that should learn a few lessons from reading his reviews.

Re: who is your favourite anime reviewers

*quietly removes the apostrophe from the thread title ;_;*

I don't care for reviews which are just personal opinions, especially as the average anime fan in this country is a completely different kind of person to me so their opinion that one series was good while another was terrible is usually the opposite of what I find. Technical nitpicks such as the observations JPT makes are much more useful when making purchasing decisions. Some of the old AoD/Mania/TFP reviews were good for these as well, but lately they seem to be less nitpicky than in the old days so I don't read them as much. I don't think I've ever used a review to decide whether or not to watch something for reasons of content, only the technical quality of the disc.

How about the AUKN reviewers? They don't come up in the forums any more due to an annoying bug, so they're less visible than they used to be, but the AUKN reviewer team has still been busily churning out reviews of new releases for the front page of this site for a while ;)

I haven't had chance to read any of recent AUKN reviews - I have the forum bookmarked rather than the site homepage, so just assumed they'd stopped being done! I'll go check them out now. :p

Thanks for fixing the thread title, any chance of capitalizing the 'w' as well to really stop it driving me mad?

I thought that might be the case. I know the reviewers here would love hearing feedback :)

I was trying to resist over-meddling with the topic title but since you gave me a good excuse...

Grumpy Jii-san was by far the best reviewer on YouTube. There's something surreal and wonderful about an old guy with a big beard walking around deserts and mountains taking some time out on his hikes to review anime. It's a shame he stopped.
