At today's Anime Industry Panel, MangaUK said that due to the sales of Blue Exorcist, they are less hesitant about the prospect of subtitle-only releases (no English dub). So, what subtitle-only releases (as in, titles that have been released elsewhere without a dub) would you like to see released here?
Note: MangaUK have already said that they might look into Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari.
Personally, my immediate list would be:
- Bunny Drop
Jerome has already said that he is a fan of this series and Anime On Demand did stream it, so hopefully Kazé might know what to expect sales-wise. Also, NIS America's sets sold really well.
- To Love Ru (incl. Motto To Love Ru)
I think one thing that really helped Blue Exorcist was it being an adaptation of a really popular shonen action manga. To Love Ru belongs to the other big genre - ecchi harems. I can see To Love Ru being a good seller (especially if they can get the OVAs set between the first series and Motto), but I didn't include Darkness as I'm not sure the BBFC would be too cool with it or not.
- Toradora (incl. OVA)
I already own NIS America's Premium Editions, but I really do think that Toradora is an amazing show and as Hanabee have recently licensed it in Australia, with the OVA that America didn't get, I'd happily pick it up here.
- Wandering Son
I'm not sure this title would sell very well, but I am surprised no one outside of Japan has decided to risk giving it a physical release, it's a wonderful series.
Although a sub only release hasn't been confirmed, I am interested to see what Media Blasters are or aren't planning with Squid Girl season 2. I hope Sentai either take the rights and dub it leading to a future MangaUK release, or MangaUK can release it sub only here.
