It's that time of year again, where all the games which don't deserve the title of GotY(bar least year, Demon's Souls won it, good on them) get the title. And as usual, Spike TVs VGAs are set to come equipped with an array of announcements/World Exclusives. So what are they? well so far we have:

Mass Effect 3 - yeap, already. Kudos to EA, being stupid just seems to be in their nature in some respects: http://epicbattleaxe.com/wp-content/upl ... 388347.jpg

Batman: Arkham City trailer - Some more news on it set to be released. So far, they only gave us this trailer

Resistance 3 - I know there was something of a teaser released for this, but i'll look it out.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Was rumoured for after, but is now officially set as a VGA announcement with the teaser to be found at Gametrailers

Volition Reveal (Volition/Del Toro Action RPG) - I don't know much about Volition/Del Toro, what i can say is that the reveal will be a Lovecraftian horror Action RPG, or so i'm lead to believe

Gears of War 3 (Gears Kinect?) - Hah, now the kinect bit i bet, or rather hope will be bogus, but GoW3 has been set in stone for the VGAs for a while.

Prototype 2 - Another Set in stone for a while, shall post the trailer as soon as it hits the web

EA Game (SSX) - Rumour control has it that they have a new SSX on the way, probably do, if ME3 was anything to go by, they've probably leaked it somewhere

Rumored: Microsoft Game - I'm looking out the apparent rumour now, but IGN suggest that microsoft have a new title to be shown there as well.

Thor - We know the film is in the works, but the game title has a teaser about as well, shall post it soon enough.

We also have a couple other bits being shown there, from Valve's Portal 2 and the new character reveal for Mortal Kombat - Who maybe Kratos(GoW Kratos), but i can't say for sure. He will be PS3 exclusive obviously.

Now, last thing before i update on other posts as i get it. Bioware are not just showing one game, but two. Some suggest the other game will be a Mass Effect spin-off, but there is not much to go on. Shall see.

VGAs start at 8pm EST so....late tonight/early morn. But i'll be up, so this will be updated

First update of the night. Gears of War has just been taken off the list of announcements:

I have just learned of a decision to postpone our planned Gears of War news from Epic Games for the Spike Video Game Awards this weekend. I wanted to share this with you and let you know that while these are never easy decisions, we can tell you that what we have to share for the franchise in 2011 will definitely be worth the wait and we look forward to working with our partner at Spike on sharing this world premier news when it is ready.

So that knocks it down to 12 major announcements then. Shall just have to wait till next year for Gears news

I am shocked to see these sequels to successful franchises, once again the video game industry has gone beyond my wildest expectations.

Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the VGA's. That alone makes them worth-while.
Hah, awesome, may just have to check them out.

Sounds to me like they announced a bunch of stuff that isn't coming out for ages. :-/

This is why I like the new E3, where they basically talk about stuff coming out within five months or less.

The Mass Effect 3 trailer was great. It sent chills up my spine.

Is it just me or did the guy doing the voice over sound like someone from the TA ads?

The trailers for all the games are up via Gametrailers, so you can grab a view of them there.

The awards themselves shouted "fixed". Though saying that, Red Dead Redemption got Game of the Year, Bioware got Studio of the year, so yeah, it wasn't all doom and gloom. And Black Ops didn't win multiplayer game of the year, i was happy. Reach did, so yeah, twas good.

Shouted more "promotional and big companies" to me (though that and "fix" are interchangeable, I guess). Seemed very much like the basic MTV Award Show, except they are meant to be silly -- this attempted to avoid it, yet it still was stupid as hell. Games could do with a Golden Globe type situation, where nobody truly cares; because the audience is drunk, but at least it looks pretty.
