Following the news that Hillary is still very much in the game following the primaries in delegate-rich Ohio and Texas (as well as the less delegate endowed Rhode Island and Vermont), I'm interesting in knowing what the good people of AUKN think of this election.

Personally, Hillary's my candidate. She's resilient (no matter how many times she's knocked down -- and she's been knocked down many times; the Monica Lewinsky thing, the might of the health care industry defeating her plan for universal health care -- she's get right back up with confidence and determination), she's passionate, she's experienced in world diplomacy, she's got a plan to 'fix' America's hideously profit-driven health care service, she strongly supports minorities and wants to rebuild the crumbling middle-class in the US. She's great, as far as I'm concerned!

Now, Barack Obama is great, too; I'll definitely get behind him if he turns out to be the nominee, but I'd much prefer it to be Hillary!

And, of course, seeing as I'm a level headed, fair person, I most certainly will not supporting a Republican :]

So, who do you support?

Obama, though supporting or not supporting any governmental leader in the US doesn't affect us one iota.

It's a step up from Dubya though.

ofc it does, if they're no so gun ho, we'd lose less troops to friendly fire

'Friendly fire' has nothing to do with who's in the White House and it's certainly not exclusive to US troops.

I meant 'us', as in the people who aren't worthless deadbeat teenagers sacrificing themselves to the towel heads.

GG.

so US troops decide to go to war on their own now?

Either Barrack or Hillary theres a good chance of an assassination filling the headlines

... I don't think so. The days of presidential assassinations in the US are long gone, security is far too tight now. Plus, I don't think anyone would have the motivation to assassinate a black or woman president, to be honest.

You were talking about friendly fire, Ryo Chan. I don't know why you think that's in any way relevant to this topic, but it's not and I was just reminding you of that.

I think Clinton is a very scary woman (possibly an android...?), but I think she'll win. She's tough, and whatever...I'm a Bill fan, so she should give him like, a talkshow or something too. >_>

Something about Obama really unsettles me...people say he's charismatic, but some of his stuff isn't far off brainwashing (look for some of his speeches with people just chanting "Yes we can" like mindless sheep...SCARY stuff).

I'd vote for McCain, just because I know he's got no chance, then I could enjoy complaining about whichever of the other two won.

If any of the democratic candiates came into power then it would be a world first techincally so i would just vote the democratic option...if i was an american of course

That's not true at all. Unfortunately, McCain stands a very good chance at winning the presidential elections in the US.

simple, incidents like Friendly Fire only exist in wartime, Wars only exist when 1 goverment leader desides for some reason to go against another.

So if said president is anti-war, then there will be less innocents and soilders to die, as there will be less wars. I'm not saying people won't die if there are no wars, and that America is resonsible for every friendly fire incident, but you have to admit, the only reason we're in Iraq and Afganistan is because of George Bush's decision to try free a country which obviously isn't going to be as simple as sending in a few million troops and "kicking ass"

First female/black president since the US Presidency's conception?

Uhhhhh, ya-- that's a damn f*cking good motive for someone whacked in the head.

Eh, not really. If you look at all the US presidents that have so far been assassinated, none of them were black or female.

Well, I think Hillary is the best anti-war candidate. She wants to take troops out of Iraq (but not prematurely, unlike Barack Obama who wants them out by the end of 2009) and she's not got any plans for any more invasions. However, Obama has said he would take troops out, but invade again if the terrorist show up. He's also made clear he'd be very happy to bomb Pakistan if Osama shows up there.

Meaning the incentive I mentioned had no chance to resonate into anyone?

Luther King was shot for being black; imagine a president being black (or a woman)...

I've talked over the topic several times with some American friends and this is the conclusion I came to:
