News posted on the official Rapture TV website has confirmed their intentions to relaunch their digital UK TV channel (set for a return to Sky Digital during the autumn season) with Japanese anime included in the scheduled line-up.

Having spoken with Rapture TV, we have been told that specifc announcements should be coming soon but with things still needing to be signed and sealed, nothing else can be revealed just yet. Rest assured, we'll be quick off the mark once more information is released.

I know this news has been out for a few days now but I've been waiting for an official source to confirm before posting about it. The whole Adult Swim / Sci-Fi situations were too disappointing and I didn't want to get everyone excited again only to be let down a few weeks later.

Provided everything works out, I really hope this will be great news for the UK industry and with the added exposure of decent anime on TV, we should see the fanbase continue to expand at a rapid pace. Fingers crossed.., tightly.

I may actually have a reason to watch TV if its series I am unsure on being broadcast. Certainly good news that this is in the pipeline at all mind, will hopefully increase anime popularity and sales.

Ah, yes, this is fantastic news. Even if nothing I want to watch is broadcast, it'll still be a boost for the industry. (I assume the previous topic where good anime for TV where requested ties in directly with this) Hopefully, we'll get an Adult Swim-style slot and some good shows.

Fantastic news indeed, I doubt I'd ever watch anime on TV (dubs make my brain hurt :p) but this will certainly expose anime to a more casual audience, increasing the popularity and volume of sales which should see more series being optioned for UK release.

I agree with Chomo, an Adult Swim like block of programs ie. geared towards older teens, would be perfect.

Don't know if I will end up watching this myself, but it's certainly good news in general. As has already been mentioned, this should draw in the more casual viewers, even if it's simply because there isn't a whole lot else worth watching on TV at the moment.

Hmm, pretty good news. Shame that no one has probably ever heard of this channel.

That comment makes no sense.

It's not that difficult to fathom but if you need an explanation here goes: I've watched anime from a very young age and largely in it's intended format, in japanese with subs, as a result whenever I see anime my brain expects japanese.

IMHO dubs are largely wooden, uninspired and largely unecessary.
I'm not looking to incite arguements so i'll reiterate that's purely my opinion, I'll all for dubs bringing anime to a wider audience and if other people want to watch them that's up to them, unlike some people I don't feel the need to make a fuss if someone's views differ from my own.

this the great new, some of the best news ive heard recently. Anime not being on tv was the one big thing that the industry was lacking and this news makes me very excited that the uk anime industry will grow meaning that we will get more and better shows.

Koolies, i really want 2 c this now!, but its on Digital! :( i've heard there is this thing called free sky, where u get the box and the dish but u dont pay, and only get free 2 air channels, i think now i have a reason 2 actually do this now :p :p I've heard that they r gonna b showing music vids too, and loads of other things, although, on their site, anime was only at the end of the list, and was only mentioned once! :? still this has the potential to become a great channel! :p yay

the propblem isnt if i can see it the problem is if i will be allowed to see it i never get watch what i wanna watch especailly anime when its on

when they showed anime on sunday my parents moaned at me for watching it

when the anime was on at 5 in the morning my parents moaned at me

it will probably be on at night not during the day
Well maybe, that would probably be the best time to show it (though not if it will be 1 in the morning or something), but i think it depends upon what their view is of anime
