"wwww" is the Japanese equivalent of "lol", only the "w" is equivalent to the "l" (from the word for laughing 笑 which starts with that sound) and the number of "w"s used roughly relates to how funny something was according to the typist.You get into the habit of joining in if you spend much time with the Japanese version of leetspeakers. In FFXI my groups peppered almost every sentence with it.Thankfully with Berserk my husband is hooked on it so I get all the benefits of collecting it myself without paying for the books directly R
