I'm terribly new to the anime genre and saw two parts of one at work not so long ago and have tried to find it again since with no luck.
It begins with this female kid, who goes looking for her father who is this big engineer/manager person of automobiles. She finds him and is about to say she is his daughter when he turns her away. Fortunately, she is able to fix one of his automobiles and she gets a job as an engineer.
She then stows away on a spaceship(?) and in the second part meets a Prince and watches him take part in a thrilling race.
