According to news emerging from Japan, global manga publisher's Tokoyopop are pushing to produce a (presumably North American) live-action adaptation of the popular and fan-service friendly Ikki Tousen manga (also known in the UK as "Battle Vixens").

Having recrafted the story for their movie treatment, Tokyopop are seeking finance from Hollywood, with their true ambitions extending to becoming a "worldwide brand" on a par with the US's cross-media giants like Marvel and Disney. To that end, Ikkitousen isn't the only manga currently under their live-action scrutiny; the gothic vampire drama Lament of the Lamb is one of many also being considered.

Oh gawd... please no! I love Ikki Tousen, but to hell with the Live Action crap!
Dammit, another out-of-place production comes from an anime I like...

Reading that interview excited me no end!

I can't wait to see what happens from all this, I think the whole "all or nothing" idea isn't really the case, Tokyopop will always have manga to fall back on.

I personally can't wait to see a live-action version of Battle Vixens (Ikki Tousen) if it's going to be done properly. Although, thinking about it, I highly doubt it'll stay close to the origanal considering it was so horribly rewritten for the English adaptation. We can always hope, though.

And as for the other title they're planning of making a live-action film out of, I don't know if that's been rewritten or edited for the English adaptation, but I'm guessing it hasn't been. So yeah can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Reading the second interview with the CEO of Tokyopop, it seems they're working on a lot of non-Japanese titles, which I can't say I'm too happy with. Apparently they're already doing a cartoon series of some "I Luv Halloween" "world-manga" for MySpace and they're wanting to do an "anime" of Princess Ai, which isn't really anime, unless the mangaka was Japanese, because I don't think Courtney Love drew the manga, I have a feeling it was a Korean artist, but anyhow. Then they want to do a live-action film of "Van Von Hunter" which I don't think is true manga either.

Either way, it's all well and good doing this, but they need to concentrate on proper manga, or they'll be giving people wrong impressions if these movies do ever make it big, which apparently they're going down better than expected by Hollywood Execs.

Why not adapt something worthwhile at least.
Yeah! Like an Eureka Seven live-action movie! >_>

Ha id rather have an eye out than watch a live adaption of eeureka seven.

I realy like ikki tousen it could make a pretty good live action movie as long as they tone down on fan service :p

Ikki Tousen is a bad series to begin with but this live action version will be worse than watching the DOA movie. What happened to Tokyopop's Priest movie with the "SPARTA!" guy anyway?
