Did anyone here have a NEOGEO, I always wanted one but could never convince my parents to give me the £800-£900 necessary

I still do because my 360 is the first home console i actually bought myself, the Commadore 64, Mastersystem, Megadrive, PS1, N64, PS2, Gamecube and Xbox were all either bought by/with family members or gifts so the £300 i just spent on my 360 seemed like a lot.

Kinda scary when you think in 1990 £361 for a Mega Drive is a lot more than £425 for a PS3 in todays money market.

you missed the Nintendo Wii at £179.99 last year. Apart from that there are slightly pricy ones from back then, we have a megadrive and i could get a sega saturn now for £30 if i where to ask my friend for it.

Those figures are ********, where did you get them from?

In reality the "surprise attack" launch backfired for Sega. The Saturn was released at a high price point of [USD]$400 (Sony announced a $300 price for the Playstation at E3).
The Saturn was $400. That's £205, not £600. Even in the UK, it retailed under £300. The Mega Drive was $200 (Retailed for £190 in the UK). The Neo Geo was $650.

Apologies to you all I misread the article I copied this from, the prices had already been adjusted for inflation and are stating what they would cost in todays market.

I have updated the first post for this

Still not convinced :p And the fact that the 360 is so much cheaper, doesn't help the PS3's case.

hhhhhmmmmmmmm this seems familiar.

you must be a master at gaming.

I remember how my old Amiga 500 cost just that...£500.

In 1991. That was a lot of money back then but it was up there with the PCs of the time.
