The Third - the Girl with the Blue Eye

How about this series? It’s another where I’ve ordered the 1st DVD on a whim. Like 009-1, it sounds good from reading the official blurb but I guess that’s the point of official blurb. Anyway, here is the said blurb:
In a devastated world overrun by monstrous bugs and ravaged by outlaws, there's only one person to call when you really need a job done right: Honoka. With a sixth sense for danger, sword skills that are second to none, and a smart-aleck A.I. tank by the name of Bogie, she's ready to tackle any job and solve any problem for her clients. But while crossing the desert one night, she finds a young man alone in the wasteland. It's the first step of a journey that will challenge even Honoka's amazing skills to their very limit!
As much as it sounds quite entertaining, I must admit that it does sound like more recycled ideas. As 009-1 sounds a bit Najica Blitz Tactics, re-set and minus Lila, this seems like a recipe where the main ingredients are Kino’s Journey and Desert Punk.

So, anyone seen this and can anyone convince me I did the right thing ordering it or that I should I quickly cancel it?

I've seen all of The Third and can say it is pretty bad overall. The story wasn't that interesting, the animation is extremely bad in 2 episodes with some other eps being almost as bad. The only thing I liked about it was some of the character's and the PSP (Honoka's battlesuit/mech). It's not something I'd recommend to people to buy without having watched some of it first.

Watched it many moons ago and two words spring to mind when i watched it. Mary Sue . She was too perfect, fighting skill to match Kenshin, able to talk a bomb out of exploding, best friends with and alien, and having all the perks of being a third (able to break techno taboo's, friends in high places etc), and having both sexes falling at her feet. Just seemed all a little too perfect. Too unreal.

Seen the whole series and although it does have some interesting fight scenes I found it a little slow throughout the middle. Infact I would go so far as to say it would have worked better as a 13 episode series rather than 24 eps.

Best bit though has to be the ultra cool tank, it kicks ass

While not as bad as this in my opinion, yes there were two episodes where the animation went to pot. And Yes, sometimes the story was a little weak. However Honoka herself is a fantastic anime heroine (Remember that thread about strong female characters? she is definately one of them) The idea of multiple smaller arcs in the 26 was rather good, and most were pretty watchable. The ending was dissapointing, but in all, it was reasonably enjoyable for the main character especially. Probably not worth buying, but certainly worth giving a watch.
