The Super Dimension series

I recently acquired Southern Cross and Mospeada (courtesy of Crion) and was just wondering if it would be best to purchase the Macross set before I start the other two?
I intend to watch Macross either way, but I just want to know if watching Macross before the other two would be beneficial (help me understand the other two more)?

None of those series are related, at least they weren't until Carl Macek got his hands on them.

They're stand alone and can be watched anyway you want to.

Aso there is another element to the Super Dimensional series, that being Super Dimensional Century Orguss (and by extension the sequel OVA Orguss 2) But still they are all unrelated
