Hmm, I know what you mean about the worst character designs ever. I've got used to Odas art style by now, but I still don't like it that much.

Anyway, fun though One Piece is, going by characters Excel gets my vote this time (Nami seems rather two-dimensional, even compared to some of the other crew members).
