Following up last week's good news that The Reading Society is planning on recommending 150 manga graphic novels to various schools and libraries scattered across the UK- sensationalist tabloid The Daily Mail (a newspaper which has apparently slated anime in the past too) has hit out at this decision and is seemingly against such a move.
In an article dramatically titled "Child murder, incest and rape...is this really how our schools should be encouraging boys to read?", they provide exactly the kind of damaging bias you would expect from a journalist who knows next to nothing about the manga art form. Funnily enough, this article does actually end on something of a positive note, but if just for the horrendous headline- The Daily Mail deserves the worldwide scorn of a million anime fans. Click here to read the 'article' (I use this term loosely, more like ignorant rant) for yourself (thanks go to Richy for taking the time to scan it in for us!).
