If people get a chance to watch this, I know its been licenced and regardless of that I demand you find a friend with Episodes 1 to 15 and watch them!

This series has been a real eye opener for me, I watched it on a whim and thinking it would be utter pap and I think its now the best anime being aired in Japan (for now).

Plot Summary: In their closed-off underground village, Kamina and Simon chafe at the limits imposed by the village elder. Yet all this will change, when Simon stumbles across a fantastic device - just as the village's peace is broken by a violent intrusion. (Stolen from ANN)

Thats not really a good plot summary but its a bit hard to describe. Anyway this show will appeal to fans of FLCL and people that enjoy the less serious anime style. Character wise I love Rivalz and Kamina :D

P.s Yoko's Hot.

Hmm, well much though I liked FLCL, and inspite of all the praise this show has had, I just couldn't get into it. I watched the first episode and didn't think much of it, started watching the second one and... just couldn't finish it. Not that it was a bad show, indeed I couldn't say whether it was or not - unlike some shows where you can tell the whole story from the first episode I had no idea where G-L was going. It was just that it had nothing to interest me.

A friend introduced the show to me. Truth be told I wanted to hate it when I saw the opening ("What the hell is this!? My friends have no taste!" etc) but I found myself enjoying it right from the first episode. Its such a manic series that its hard not to like it.

I started on the series, and found it really enjoyable, though i haven't watched more than the first 8 episodes yet. I intend to watch more of the series, but i may wait until they start to get released in the US, so long as the release date isn't to far ahead in the future.

It's my favorite anime of 2007. I can't get enough of it. Truly a return to form for Gainax. I would say more but I just love everything about it.

Didn't we already have a thread about this? Anyway, thought it was fun to begin with, but it didn't captivate me by episode 5 so gave up shoved it into the ' You had be but you lost me' file. However was surfing in the cesspit of 4Chan and they hinted (like anvils falling from the sky) that something interesting happened in episode 7 ... and man it did. Had me hooked from then on. Only grumble about the license is that gonna have to wait about a year or more till i find out the end... unless i bend the fansub code.

This is an excellent anime. I hear people praising it to the high heavens which perhaps does it a little too much justice, but it's damn FUN whilst being serious at the same time. Really good anime.

Great anime, really fun and stupid. Easily in the top 10 for me, but truth be told, I don't know my top 10, just know its up there...

I personally wouldn't call it a return to form for GAINAX because I've pretty much liked everything they've done, but it is pretty spectacular and is definetly up there with the cream of their shows. It's a recap episode this week which I guess is why nobody has bothered to sub it but I think I'm going to download it raw anyway because I hear the re-cap is done in quite an interesting and different way.

I've read a lot about this series and seen a lot of screens and stuff. It looks very, very awesome! Cannot wait for it to come out here. Any word on when the first DVD will be out here?

Umm... not any time soon. Firstly it'll have to finish airing in Japan, then the Japanese DVDs'll come out, then maybe a year later the US DVDs'll start to come out, then we'll get it in the UK if we're lucky.

But, didn't ADV announce it had attained the license? So, doesn't that mean they can release it whenever they want? Viz started dubbing Death Note before the series has even ended in Japan, so the same thing might happen in this case?

Actually, I'm being far too optimistic, aren't I? =(

Well, it's not unknown for comapnies to license a series and just sit on it for years without doing anything (*cough*Kurau*cough*), although I wouldn't say it's too likely in this case. But while distribution companies are becoming aware of the advantage to a speedy turnaround from Japanese TV to domestic DVDs (striking while the iron is hot, etc), there're often limitations on how fast they can do this. Apart from the technical and production factors (honestly, a dub, subs, and NTSC-->PAL don't take that long) Japanese companies often impose a time period before the series can be put out on DVD to cut down on reverse importing - given that Japanese DVDs are so much more expensive than ours, this isn't an insignificant factor.

So, if you want to watch this series on UK DVD, patience is the only answer. If you want a rough estimate of how long till we get the DVDs, take a look at Mushishi - the first DVD in the UK is being released exactly 2 years after the first episode aired in Japan.

I've taken note of this for future viewing as the name has been mentioned positively many times.

Same here. I've tried to avoid any type of spoiler as far. :X I'm quite proud of myself, Not that they would mean much to me at the moment. Anyway, I'm waiting ever so (*******) patiently for these ADV releases. They better have the first US release out by Xmas.

As good as it is, it's starting to turn into this years Death Note, as it's becoming a fad with everyone saying "Who the hell do you think I am!?" etc.... plus there's Simon X Kamina pairings. UGH.

Who the hell do you think I am?!
Besides all the rubbish that is being released, it still than makes up for it, I have fallen in love with this show
