Tell me what to watch. You know you want to.

Hello AUKN people. Nice to meet you in the cyber.

I have a serious problem: I'm addicted to collecting anime and not watching it. I have tons of the stuff I'll probably never get around to watching that was purchased only because it was cheap (Petite Princess Yucie, I'm looking at you).

What I need you lovely people to do is simple: Look at the list I'm about to post, pick ONE title, give a few sentences (or more) telling me why I should invest time into the series and then go on with your day. As difficult as this will be, I have faith in all of you to pull through.

I might take awhile to get around to watching it as I'm *trying* to watch Hellsing and have 2 series in the post I want to watch (Escaflowne + GitS: SAC 2ND Gig).

Here's the list of complete series I own on doovde, minus dropped and on-hold series:

.hack//Legend of the Twilight
Ai Yori Aoshi
Angelic Layer
Arc the Lad
Aquarian Age
Avenger
Banner of the Stars
Battle Vixens
Blue Submarine No.6
Burn-up Scramble
Cromartie High School
Dai-Guard
DearS
Diamond Daydreams
Divergence Eve
Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure
Dragon Ball Z (first 20 episode box set)
El Hazard: The Alternate World
El Hazard: The Wanderers
Gad Guard
Gasaraki
Kaze no Yojimbo
Key: The Metal Idol
King of Bandit Jing
Little Snow Fairy Sugar
Mahoromatic (S1 + S2)
New Fist of the North Star
Niea 7
Petite Princess Yucie
Saiyuki
Samurai 7
Samurai Gun
Sol Bianca: The Legacy
Someday's Dreamers
Stellvia
The Melody of Oblivion
The SoulTaker
Tokyo Underground
Witch Hunter Robin

Ooh, definitely Samurai 7!

You probably already know about it being the futuristic Gonzo remake of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai... But it takes the story beyond the film. The action is excellent, but the characters are better. It starts off slowly, and it isn't the easiest show to get into initially, but sticking with it is definitely worth it, as the characters are all brilliantly developed. If there is a flaw, it's that a couple of episodes look as if they have been animated by the second string team, otherwise I can't fault it.

Niea_7

Because its main theme is making the best of a difficult present while yearning for an idealized past and fearing an uncertain future - something that most of us can relate to - conveyed through one of the most likeable and sympathetic protagonists in anime. It's slow moving, nothing really happens, and Niea will possibly drive you insane, but that's all part of its charm.

Ai Yori Aoshi

If you like Romance and Comedy type things (like me) then you will enjoy this.

Its also got a few love triangle type things if i remember... but yes its mostly romance comedy :p

Witch Hunter Robin.

Maybe I'm biased as WHR is one of my favourite series, but I just think its a great anime to watch. The start of the series is generic Villain of the week kinda thing, but from episode 13 on, thats where everything kicks in.

If you like anime with good pacing and development, somewhat simple yet realistic twists, and unique animation it's a good series to watch.

Another vote for Witch Hunter Robin here. Good story and charaters. Wishing for a sequal. Also in the MUST WATCH catagory is DBZ, you have no excuses DX
Also, watch Blue Sub 6. I really loved this movie. With it being a movie too, you just need a couple of hours free to watch it, and you won't regret it either.

Lol, DBZ, of course.

Although, if you want a slightly different answer, then DearS. I just finished watching it recently and I have to say it is one of the funniest, if not THE funniest anime I have ever seen. Seriously.

Samurai 7 and Witch Hunter Robin both as described above.

Mahoromatic. Funny with good action, but some may say a bit fanservicey. The ending however really is a WTF moment.

"In the end, there can be only one."

Excluding Dracos (Voddas mentioned others but made his vote clear) for cheating, here are the totals thus far:

5 - DBZ
2 - WHR
1 - Ai Yori Aoshi
1 - Cromartie High School
1 - Niea 7
1 - Samurai 7

Vote!

I was actually voting for Maharomatic, but was pointing out the others were as they had already been described.

Don't worry; I was only pulling your leg, Draconian. :) It was clear DBZ was going to be the winner and I started watching it shortly after that post.

Right now I'm in manga reading mode: I finished Chrono Crusade yesterday and I've now moved onto Death Note since my box set turned up today. I don't really want to watch much anime at the moment...
